9/52: Participate in the Dewey 24 Hr Read-a-Thon

One of my 52 things is to take part in a 24 hour read-a-thon, and today's the day. It starts at 1:00pm and I'll be updating this post throughout the 24 hours.  I know I won't be able to complete the full 24 hours of reading because Ced will still need my help but I'm going to do as much as I can.

I have a pile of books from the library, plenty of snacks and drinks, just organising lunch whilst I wait to get started.

Hour 1: Introductory Questionnaire
1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today?  Trowbridge, Wiltshire, England
2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to? Spin a wicked Web by Cricket McRae
3) Which snack are you most looking forward to? Crisps and biscuits
4) Tell us a little something about yourself! I'm a peripatetic music teacher, avid reader and carer for my partner.
5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to?  This is my first read-a-thon and I'm just looking forward to taking part.

End of event meme
  1. Which hour was most daunting for you?  there wasn't a particularly daunting time for me, mainly because I had to take time out to see to my partner's needs so I had the opportunity to refresh the batteries.
  2. Could you list a few high-interest books that you think could keep a Reader engaged for next year? I wouldn't necessarily recommend any of the books I read this year - they were chosen to be undemanding reads
  3. Do you have any suggestions for how to improve the Read-a-thon next year? not really.  This was my first time and the only thing I thought missing was the lack of a countdown message (to countdown to the actual start) on the website.
  4. What do you think worked really well in this year’s Read-a-thon? The cheerleaders were very good.
  5. How many books did you read?  I read 3 books and started on the 4th.
  6. What were the names of the books you read? Spin a Wicked Web by Cricket McRae, Presumed Guilty by Tess Gerritsen, Little Girls Lost by JA Kerley and I started reading Blue Monday by Nicci French
  7. Which book did you enjoy most? Spin a Wicked Web by Cricket McRae
  8. Which did you enjoy least? I enjoyed all of them
  9. If you were a Cheerleader, do you have any advice for next year’s Cheerleaders? N/A
  10. How likely are you to participate in the Read-a-thon again? What role would you be likely to take next time? Yes I'll do it again as a reader.
