Five on Friday | The little Things

Read | I'm in the middle of reading 'The Book of You' by Claire Kendal, a book group choice.  It's the sort of book I'd normally sit and read in one go, but that hasn't been possible this time with all the workmen in the house. Definitely  one to recommend.

Watched | Nothing!  It's been a very quiet week and I haven't watched TV nor been to the cinema.

Heard | I listened to the Tom Hanks' Desert Island Discs podcast - I don't usually listen to this programme but read a recommendation on another blog about this particular episode.  I like Tom Hanks, so a very enjoyable listen.

Made | I'm in the middle of making order out of chaos, sorting out the kitchen.  The work in there has finished so now I have to put everything away again.  It's decision time - what stays and what goes?  When I was emptying the cupboards ready for the work to start, I found lots of things I'd never used in the three years I've been in the house, so it's time for a few charity shop donations.

Worn With no washing machine for the last week or so, it's been a case of finding whatever is clean! I caught up with most of the laundry yesterday, so once I've tackled the pile of ironing it'll be back to normal.

And Lastly ... The kitchen is finished so now the contents of the music/study room have been moved to the living room, and work will start on replacing the flooring and fitting the much needed bookcases to store all the sheet music and smaller instruments. That should all be finished by the end of next week (he's fitting this work in amongst his other jobs), and then hopefully it'll be time to concentrate on the garden.

Thanks to Morgana for organising the Little Things, and to Amy for organising Five on Friday.

  1. Wow, you've been busy. I really should be more strict with myself over the amount of 'stuff' I keep in the house. Well done for making charity shop donations.

  2. Busy, busy it all sounds wonderful. Love the sound of the music room, we changed ours to a craft room once the girls had moved out but I do miss the sound of the piano tinkling away. Its amazing what we hide in kitchen cupboards, mine could do with a good sort out.

  3. Three years!? doesn't time fly? I have been "rationalising" the stuff in my house too. Unfortunately there are things that Mr M has to authorise before I can pass them on to grandchildren. Needless to say the hurt puppy-dog look has been much in evidence this week - sigh.
Your kitchen clear out sounds so good

  4. Thanks for the recommendation, will add it to my book list. I too heard the Tom Hanks and became a tad emotional myself listening to him about his child hood x

  5. My kitchen could do with some organizing also, but I think I have more work in the soap room, which also has a Christmas closet. Not easy to part with Christmas things. Anyway, it was fun reading your post and your ABOUT page. I've made many valiant attempts to love tea, being the Anglophile that I am, but I just can't honestly say I like it. Coffee is my go-to in the mornings. :-)

  6. Good that the kitchen is done! That must be a relief. Yep, I'm thinking if you haven't used something in 3 years, probably time to part with it :)

  7. Wow sounds like you've had a busy one. Good for you for having a clear out too. I really need to do that but sometimes have trouble letting go - especially books! How can I decide which ones stay and which ones go? LOL.

Have a good weekend and glad kitchen is sorted

  9. Sounds like a topsy-turvy week with the work. It's good to have a good clear out of unused things now and then.

  12. Hi Eileen, thank you for your visit. I see you're too busy with the renovation of your House and everything very well planned. I have also done a lot of things, more than when I was working out. Always give news. (I'm short on time;))! Hugs and good Sunday and week.

  13. No screen time - sounds very peaceful! It's a nightmare not having a washing machine... Mine broke on the day we returned from a fortnight abroad... I couldn't believe it! #littleloves
