Memorandum Monday

Greetings to Sian and all my fellow Mondayers.

I'm sharing a bit of an odd 'new' with you today. Well, I think it's a 'new' but it may actually be something I'd completely forgotten about as I find it hard to believe that I didn't know this. Yesterday, I walked down a road in Bradford-on-Avon which is just off the town centre, but not a route I can remember ever taking before. I was completely surprised to see a level crossing - I honestly wasn't aware of this so am counting it as my something 'new' this week ... but it's only about 3 miles from home (i.e., the town I've lived in all my life!) so I sort of feel that this must be one of those 'I forgot I knew this' things. Am I the only one who forgets things like this?

Hope you all have a good week.

  1. It does look like a pretty drive. I find your level crossing for trains very different from ours. Another reason to like blogging/reading - we learn something new all the time. I do not think you are the only one forgetting things - I think your brain is just crammed with SO much knowledge & with retirement on hand you are developing a new sorting system ... Hope you have a great week ahead.

  2. I would think it's new to you Eileen. Do you find you notice far more things when you're away from your local patch? I'm certainly much more observant than when on home turf.

  3. It is a pretty area where it is located at. I would like to think perhaps it is new and you just hadn't seen it before. I would think you would have observed it sometime in the past if it had always been there.

  4. No you are not the only one that forgets. That's the kind of picture that makes me wonder what is just down that road.

  5. Level crossings are sneaky, I think they have the ability to be invisible until a train is coming. It could be that you have never been there when a train is coming so you have never had your attention grabbed by the flashing lights or the noise. The gate/pole looks kind of new too so perhaps it was one where there was no gate until now ... I wonder how to research that.

  6. I forget things all the time! Not likely to be a new railway so I suspect it's been there a while.

  7. Just catching up. Loved your five horses in the last post, especially the chalk one. I can quite imagine you just hadn't been down this road before, I know that I have walked around our fairly small village a lot and not been down all the roads here, so there must be loads of other roads I have never been down! Count it as one of your new things!!
