Sunday

Another rainy day by the looks of it so I'm staying in the warm ... any old excuse!

I fell asleep on the sofa last night and woke about 3am, cold and stiff (the heating goes off at 10:30pm) and tottered off up to bed. I slept through then until just gone 10am and have woken with a thick head, probably from too much sleep! The last thing I can remember doing yesterday evening was settling down to read at about 7pm ish so I've probably had about 15 hours sleep.

My new skill for this year is calligraphy. I've done a bit before but years ago, and I want to get back to it. I have some pens which Julie gifted me a couple of years ago and they will be fine for my initial practice. I've found a local calligraphy group that meets once a month but I think I will do some practice at home before I ask about joining them. With that in mind I have found some calligraphy practice sheets online, so my task for today is to print a selection with the aim of doing some daily practice through the week. I'd also like to get to the library during the week to see if there are any suitable books - there's plenty online but I am trying to reduce my screen time, so a library books will suit me better at this stage.

  1. It's years since I had fell asleep like that - quite horrid when you wake up cold and with complaining muscles. However, your body was probably doing what it needed - and that was sleep to help you recover. You know that the best thing for today is now to chill out, keep warm, and be gentle with yourself until you are fully recovered. xx

    1. I haven't done that for ages either. I actually slept for most of the afternoon and evening as well, so something isn't right.

  2. Oh well done on that massive sleep! I've been having very fitful nights of late so I could probably do with the same. I hope this is the turning point that sees you well on the road to recovery.

    1. All I want to do is sleep at the moment so I'll be glad when I've turned the corner!

  4. Beautiful photo! It's a rainy day, here, too.

It sounds like you really needed that long sleep! 3:00 a.m. is about when I went to bed, last night!

I posted a late comment on one of your earlier posts, Thursday's post, I believe (sorry, I got a bit behind with comments!) when you were talking about how tired you were feeling and wanting to be checked for anemia (American spelling!). I also suggest getting your Vitamin D levels checked, as low Vit. D levels can also cause fatigue.

Brushing up on your calligraphy skills sounds like a fun activity! My mother used to do calligraphy. I have a set of pens, but never tried it, myself.

Hope you have a restful Sunday. Take care.

    1. I'm looking forward to getting started on the calligraphy. It's been on my mind for a while so now it's time to stop the planning and to get on with it!
