Wednesday

I had a lovely day yesterday. Lunch with J is always good fun and we both felt relaxed about the distancing arrangements in the pub. I'm glad I went but at the same time it isn't something I plan to do too often while the risk of infection remains  - going out for a meal I mean, I will see J but we'll most likely go for a walk and either take our own refreshments or purchase take out coffees.

I now have the clothes sorted for Baby R so have to find out when I can visit. I'm not sure if they are even home from hospital yet so am not expecting it to be this week, although I may do a distanced doorstep delivery of the parcel and return for cuddles at a later date.

Today will be spent at home. I'm expecting a parcel this morning so need to wait in for that, and Danielle should be here this afternoon so this should be the day all the plants are dealt with. Fingers are definitely crossed that she's here as promised and, if all goes according to plan, there'll be a garden update post tomorrow.

Today is also the day I resume exercising. I've rested up my knee and now need to get back in the habit of walking regularly. It'll have to be walking around indoors today but steps are steps wherever I do them so I have no excuses to delay restarting!

  1. I hope that Danielle will show up to tend to the garden and get everything planted! Enjoy your walking and hope you get to visit the baby, soon. Take care.

    1. I'm reasonably sure that she'll be here but have a bit of anxiety bubbling up about it, which I could do without.

I've charged my Fitbit and am ready to start the walking as soon as I've finished my breakfast.

I can't wait to see the baby. In these strange times we can't all turn up at the same time and baby's safety is the priority so I will wait my turn. 😊

  3. Meeting with friends can certainly re-charge us quickly. Fingers crossed that Danielle shows; would a reminder call be in play or do you think she'd be offended?

    1. She phoned me early this morning to cancel because she is waiting on the results of a Covid test. If she hadn't phoned I wouldn't have phoned her on this occasion as I need to be confident that I can rely on her and not need to chase her up.

  4. I don't eat out because I'm insecure about airborne infection, but I do look forward to going back to restaurants. In the meantime, I'm doing take-out. I used to do those Leslie Sansone walking videos, but I do really need to get back outside. I'm sorry to see in your comment that your garden lady can't come :( I was selfishly looking forward to a garden post ;) I hope her test comes back negative.

    1. New rules have been announced in the UK today so I will definitely reassess what I feel comfortable doing. Eating out won't be on my list of things to do any longer, until ... who knows?

I'm doing all my walking around the house and garden for the foreseeable future. I will have solo trips out but will keep them to a minimum and only where there are unlikely to be too many people.

I hope her test is negative as well.

    2. This virus changes _everything_ :( I just saw the new rules there :( It seems we're all 1 step forward and 2 steps back. I've just had a friend here test positive, and she'd been super careful through it all. She had to see about a sick relative, though, and there were anti-maskers around. The walking videos definitely made walking inside more doable for me when I was avoiding bad weather.

    3. Oh, I do hope your friend only has a mild case and wish her a speedy recovery.

I've done the Leslie Sansone walking videos before but had sort of forgotten about them so will add them in to my walking regime on some days. I'm going fairly slowly this week as I want to see how my knee holds up.

  5. Well, I hope danielle is negative and able to get back out in circulation soonest! It does seem to be one thing after the other but at least she bothered to a) get tested when she needed to and b) tell you that she wasn't coming. Do you want me to nip round and plonk those plants in the ground for you or are they surviving ok for now?

These new rules came as a bit of a surprise, just hours after G and I had arranged to go to an invitation-only piano jazz gig in a v large garden next weekend! I think something needed to happen to make people take things more seriously again, but it's disappointing that something I would have considered safe (own chair, own picnic and lots of space) can now not happen. It would definitely have been a highlight of a rather bland summer season!

    1. Thanks for the offer ... you're first reserve as my neighbour had offered to do it at the weekend.

That's a shame about the garden gig. Yes, I think something needed to be done to make some people think about their behaviour and consider others. I wonder if it's enough.

  6. Lunch out with a friend sounds delightful. Good luck with the exercise, remember slow and steady progress is the best.

    1. Lunch out was a delight and I'm glad I overcame my anxiety about meeting in person.

The exercise is going well, thanks.
