I'm Following a Tree | June 2015
Here's the Silver Birch at the start of June ... standing in the long grass left by a creative grass cutter
It's covered in female catkins - the ones that will develop the seed.
Dappled sunlight on the leaves ...
... with plenty of new leaves still to reach maturity.

Peeling bark, and in these photos you can also see the darker, younger branches

I do love silver birches, I have a really young one that isn't silver yet, hopefully it will turn soon,
ReplyDeleteI am enjoying seeing all the changes as the season progresses.
ReplyDeleteA pretty tree with very interesting bark.
ReplyDeleteIt is interesting how it changes over time. I do like the bark!
ReplyDeletebetty
It is such a lovely tree, light and airy and of course it's fabulous textured bark.
ReplyDeleteEileen I love this tree and how lovely to see it in a bit of a wild setting. Aren't the catkins just spectacular.
ReplyDeleteHi Eileen, that magnificent photos! Very beautiful this tree I didn't know! I loved watching! Hugs,
ReplyDeleteThe peeling bark makes for great photos! I have a weeping birch in the yard, but the bark doesn't peel nearly as much ... only in small strips.
ReplyDeleteAll the Birches are lovely I have a dwarf Alpine birch in my Alpine collection beautiful delicate little thing
ReplyDeleteLovely bark again this month. I love it! I also like the leaves, with the dark green and light green colors. Very pretty tree.
ReplyDeleteVery nice pictures that you posted there! Thanks.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful tree, especially the peeling bark.
ReplyDeleteAnd I had never noticed before that the new twigs were darker.
Nice bit of mowing, too...
All the best :)
It's such a pretty tree - the peeling bark, the catkins, the leaves.
ReplyDeleteApologies for the late visit. I've been coming and going from home a lot recently and am behind with things in consequence.
