Day 32: Mirabilis Jalapa
Here's another photo of the Mirabilis jalapa. It's a fascinating plant as there are different coloured flowers on each plant and some of those flowers also change colour through their blooming period. Saying that, I'm not convinced that it has a permanent place in my garden as it is mostly leaves and, fascinating as the flowers are, they're small and only open for part of the day.
Interesting plant - good photo to catch the flowers in different stages. I often think about which plants bring me joy & not so much fussing. There are a few that have found homes in someone's garden. Although having said that, I have one plant I'm not that fussed about but the hummingbirds love, so it gets to stay.
ReplyDeleteI have four-o-clocks (mirabilis jalapa) growing as a weed in my garden! I do love them for the greenery they provide and their flowers (mostly magenta and some yellow and pink mixed). But, every so often, I'll have M clear them out and there they are the next year!
DeleteI was a bit disappointed with it. I was expecting the flowers to be bigger.
