Thursday
It's gardening day today and M is due this morning at 9:30am. It rained most of yesterday and throughout the night and the clay soil in my garden will now be heavy to work so it may be the day for sorting out the rest of the pots. To be honest I won't mind if she reschedules her visit as there's nothing requiring immediate attention. I'll wait and see what she decides.
Apart from that I want to cook up a batch of chilli and some individual shepherd pies for the freezer, and while I'm in the kitchen want to check the spices to see if I need to restock any of them.
Once that's done it'll be more work on the family tree. I should finish transferring all the entries today and then I can work exclusively on the new software. It has lots of extra new-to-me features which I want to have a play with. It's possible to colour code every person to assign them to a specific branch of the family, and also link records to form all sorts of groups (location, education, occupation, etc.) - that's what I'll be doing in preparation of showing the tree to interested family members via Zoom some time next month.
I missed this week's episode of All Creatures Great and Small so will find that on iPlayer for tonight's entertainment.
Hope M will be able to find things that can be done in the garden, even if the soil is wet and heavy. Sounds like you'll be busy in the kitchen and with the family tree records transfer. The new software sounds wonderful; I'm sure you'll have fun playing around with all the features.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a wonderful day.
M is dealing with all of the bulbs today so I have plenty of spring colour to look forward to. I a busy in the kitchen and with the family tree but it's a nice sort of busy and will be a good day because of it.
DeleteI'm sure there will be things to do in the garden - there always is!
ReplyDeleteI do like the sound of the software, it sounds just what you need to take your research further.
xx
The bulbs are the focus of attention this morning. Oh and planning for year round colour, though the planting for that will be next year once this years new planting has had the time to fill out a bit.
DeleteThe new software is like having a new toy ... I'm thoroughly enjoying exploring it, haven't read the instructions but somehow haven't broken it yet!
Looks like this new ancestry software is working well for you. & the family will certainly appreciate all your efforts. I hope that M does show up to get the bulbs & pots sorted.
ReplyDeleteM's been and gone, and all the bulbs are planted.
DeleteIt's not Ancestry software but a stand alone UK software which will link with Ancestry for searching if I want it to. My cousin is more excited about it than me!!
Hi Eileen,
ReplyDeleteI was away for a few days for unforeseen reasons and I liked to know that you are still committed to your projects that help to distract and also increase knowledge.
The garden will be beautiful next spring;))!
I take the opportunity to wish you a good weekend.
Hugs,
Ailime
(Shepherd's pie, I didn't know, but I searched the net and one of these days I will;))! It must be very tasty).
Shepherd's pie is one one my favourites. I always have this as it's made with lamb but if you prefer beef then it's a Cottage pie. I hope you enjoy it if you make it.
DeleteI'm so looking forward to seeing the garden develop over the next year, and see how all the colours work together.
I hope all is well with you and your family, and wish you a great weekend.
Glad M didn't take the opportunity not to turn up. Hope you are still enjoying ACGAS. I am. My sister and I have exchanged numerous emails on the subject. Our only real disappointment is the Tristan; we loved Peter Davison's lovable rascal whereas this guy is more of a selfish brat. :(
ReplyDeleteYes, I am still enjoying ACGAS and completely agree with your comments about Tristan.
DeleteThe weather played nicely and stayed dry all the time M was here, but she said she'd have come in the rain anyway.
Glad your gardener made it. I managed about 4 hours yesterday afternoon and was pleased that I got quite a lot done.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad she came yesterday and not today as the weather has taken a turn for the worse, probably the beginning of the storm that's supposed to hit us this weekend.
DeleteFour hours? I bet you slept well last night!
I like having chili in the freezer ready for cooler weather, too :) Your new gardener is a real find!
ReplyDeleteI made a double batch ... you can never have too much chilli!
DeleteShe's brilliant and I feel incredibly lucky to have found her.
