68/365: the duck pond in the park
Yesterday morning I had my blood tests taken and blood pressure checked and then went for a walk around the park, which is next to the surgery, to get some fresh air. There are no signs of the Covid arrangements being relaxed at the surgery and as far as I can tell, they are still following the arrangements put in place during the first lockdown back in 2020 - it makes me wonder if they know something we don't know!

I've heard from the landscaper and he'll be here to sort out the patio on March 30th. It should take him two days and then I'll have a lovely clean patio again. I have to sort out the arches, hanging basket brackets and fixings for the plant support wires next, and I'm also debating whether to have some solar powered lighting as well. The timing works out well as I'll be asking M to return during April.

Today I have the nutrition club, which I think is talking about salt in your diet, and that's followed by my weekly piano lesson, but the rest of the day is free. I picked up some groceries when I was in town yesterday so will be enjoying myself in the kitchen this afternoon, doing some batch cooking for the freezer - two different chicken curries, veggie soup,  shepherdess pie, and maybe a quiche if I have enough eggs ... guess who forgot to put some eggs in her shopping trolley yesterday?

  1. I so enjoy reading about plans for your garden. Solar lighting would be lovely, I think.

    1. I'm imagining some of the solar lights wound around the arches and some trailing around the pots. Glad to hear you like reading about my plans xx

  2. It's so relaxing to watch the ducks I'm sure you would have enjoyed your walk around the park. As to the Covid arrangements I'm certain doctor's surgeries find the less busy surgeries much better for them. When I was on the cancer ward a nurse told me she preferred no visitors on the wards!
Solar lights sound lovely, I have just a few and I love seeing them lit up when it's dark.

    1. There weren't that many ducks around yesterday but I know what you mean. I was planning to walk into the nature reserve but workmen were felling some trees and blocking the route so I walked around the park instead.

The nurse I saw said that most of the staff were off sick and that they were understaffed anyway, so maybe the only way they can operate is to keep to the restrictions and limit the number of visitors to the surgery.

I've been looking at the lights ... there's a huge choice so it could take me a while to make a decision!

  3. I, too, enjoy reading about your garden plans! Solar lighting will be a good addition. My M is bringing me some plants, tomorrow, that another client is getting rid of! Some ornamental grasses and an agave plant. I will leave it up to him to decide where to plant them, but, I think the front garden might be a good place.

  4. I also wonder what inside info Drs are in the know about. Our politicians are all "back to work, back to life" & our medical advisors are "it's a good idea to keep your mask on particularly for indoor settings & don't gather in large crowds just yet". UMMMM

I like my solar lights, although we take them in for the winter to help prolong their life. I'll be around with a few eggs for you ... I ordered 12 they gave me 18 ...

    1. I'm choosing to follow the medical advice. The politicians always seem have a hidden agenda,

You are quite welcome to call in for tea and cakes but I no longer need any eggs ... many thanks for the offer but I went up to the egg farm to buy some. 😊

  5. Your garden is coming along well, too early up here to think of gardening as we are about 6 weeks behind up on the moor. I like your plans for batch cooking, something I am also doing to-day, I have a bacon & lentil soup on and an almond milk rice pudding, in my slow cookers. I have stewed some apples and I have a gammon boiling on top of the stove. The less I use my oven the better. I like it when I pop the things in the freezer and see all my homecooked ready meals. 1. I think it's probably too early for M to do much in the garden but there is so sorting out still to do to the flower beds following the work to replace the fencing.

I like the sound of bacon and lentil soup so will be adding that to my list. I usually do lentil and vegetables. It's very satisfying to see a stack of home cooked meals in the freezer, isn't it? xx

  6. You reminded me - I forgot to pick up eggs. That picture is beautiful. I suspect that medical staff in general will take a long time to recover from the stresses of the last few years. It may take them a long time to get back to normal.

    1. Haha, it seems I'm not the only one to forget to buy eggs!

You're probably right about the medical staff taking a long time to recover ... they really have had a hard time over the last couple of years.xx

    1. Thanks Sharon.

I have lots of ideas for the garden so this year is about testing some of those and see how they work out!
