Friday 16th December

350/365: I have no idea what this plant is but I like the pink leaves!

I had a lovely time with L yesterday ... a great mix of good conversation and lots of laughs. The venue was very Christmassy where the tables are all in separate booths with Christmas trimmings everywhere you looked and all the old Christmas songs playing quietly in the background ... not a pop song to be heard. The atmosphere was just right and the service was friendly and efficient so we excused the fact that we only scored the actual food as a 7 out of 10. We went shopping afterwards but the selection of clothes was really disappointing and that branch of ASDA doesn't stock any of their bread makers. So today I'll be buying a bread maker from good old Amazon and L suggested looking at an online company called 'Yours' for the clothes.

The evening Zoom session with L&P was also fun although there were over twenty of us so it wasn't the same as previous sessions and we weren't really able to have a conversation. The quizzes etc., were fun ... I didn't win but we are all certain that the one who did win, AM, was cheating so he won't be getting the prize!

Today there is the online calligraphy course this afternoon which I will probably join in with but that's about it. I have a load of washing which I can do today to get out of the way but there's nothing that I really 'must' do so I seem to have a relaxing day to look forward to. I haven't done much work on the family tree lately so that's what I'll start with ... I have some photos of my niece's newborn, Baby A, so I can at least update his details and then start on clearing some of the hints that have been mounting up.

  1. A fun day for you & L. I chuckled at your withholding of the prize for AM - Santa is watching & he should be getting coal! Those ancestry hints could prove to be interesting, so I hope you have a good day with the online classes & searches.

    1. AM always cheats! We did try telling him he would be on the naughty list but he said he wasn't worried!

So far the ancestry hints have proved usual in confirming things I already new, so am pleased with that.

  2. I love your pink leaves, and for that matter i loved yesterday's salvia leaves too. As it is my thing to ID plants; are the pink leaves from a wild plant or is it something you planted?

    1. It's something I planted. I'm sure to have noted it on this blog but haven't had time to look back. It's a tiny plant, less that 6 inches high and about 36 inches spread.

  3. Those pink leaves reminded me of my blueberry bushes! Could it be a tiny blueberry plant?

Sounds like you had a fun day with your friends, yesterday. Hope today turned out to be a good day, too. :)

    1. Thanks for the suggestion but no, it's not a blueberry. I remember when I bought it, it was chosen as a possible ground cover for the shady area behind the garage but it ended up in a pot because it didn't do the job we wanted it for.

    2. Just found it ... It's Gaultheria procumbens
