A Photo An Hour

We were up early, but no photos before 8:30 am

8:30 am: the coach arrives to take us to the Brixham Pirate Festival

9:30 am: We've picked up all the passengers and are on our way. It's nice and dry so fingers are crossed that the forecast is wrong and we won't have any rain today.

10:30 am: Still on route, we've stopped for a comfort break, and it won't be long until we reach our destination

11:30 am: We've arrived at the festival and have started looking round. It's very crowded and, as I'm in my wheelchair, Niall is having a difficult time navigating through the crowds. We stopped to listed to  the Stern Maidens singing sea shanties and traditional songs - really lovely harmonies and a pleasure to listen to.

12:30pm: It's starting to rain, so we decided to find somewhere to eat. We chose a lovely little cafe selling 'pirate food' and had a most enjoyable meal, though I think it was probably their usual menu renamed for the festival!

Niall had Avo on toast

I had Breaky Hash

and we both had fruity pancakes for dessert

2:pm: we stayed in the cafe for ages and when we ventured out it was still raining, not too hard at first, so we had a quick look round. We bought some cheap rain ponchos to keep off the worst of the weather, which was just as well as it soon started pouring down.

3.30: By now we were completely soaked and the pirate festival was losing out to the thought of a warm drink, so we chose another cafe and warmed through with a hot chocolate drink each and then shared a savoury tea - Niall had the pot of tea and the grapes and I had the cheese scone, cheese and chutney. I did offer him half the scone but he didn't want it! We stayed in the cafe until it was time to go back to where the coach was picking us up.

5:00pm: On the coach, heaters on and everyone is steaming nicely! Despite the weather we had a good time and we're both glad we went. There were still some M&Ms left so we shared those and settled down for the drive home.

6:00pm: Niall is reading and I'm trying, unsuccessfully, to sleep

7:00pm: It's still raining so not much chance of any more photos today. We were home by 8:30pm and I was in bed by 9pm ... a long, wet, but enjoyable day!
