June 2026 Goals

May was an awful month for me and I'm glad it's now over. I've had some sort of bug that I just can't shake off and have spent most of my time in bed. I've really only ventured out for medical appointments, although I did manage one trip to the cinema to see "The Sheep Detectives", which was a disappointment as the film didn't match expectations.

On to June, and I'm hoping for a much better month.

Home: There is some progress to report. The plasterer, the first of the trades for the final phase, will start work w/c 29th June. He will complete the living/dining room that week and maybe have time to start work on the study. He'll have to advise another date for completion of the study and the hall - both rooms I added to his workload at the last minute as it's too much to do in the week he has set aside for me. The rooms will be decorated as soon as the new plaster is dry enough and then I will sort out the carpet for the living/dining room, which is all I can afford for the time being.

The lodger's room is now ready so I just need to take some photos and place the advert, which I'm hoping to do some time this week.

Garden: All work on the garden has ground to a halt and I am expecting the landscaper I used for the fencing and patio to visit this afternoon to quote for completing the remainder of the work. M was hoping to be able to do it herself but the ground is just too hard to dig and once you get down beyond the top layer it is very much like the garden of a newly built property, so full of bricks, rubble and rubbish. It needs a lot of preparation and TLC before I can think about the planting. This is definitely a set back and is something I hadn't budgeted for ... I definitely need to get a lodger so I have some extra money to pay for all of this!

Music: I haven't really played much this month, entirely due to felling so poorly. However, in the first week of the month before I caught the bug, I was practicing every day and I'm hoping to pick that up again in June.

Photography: Again, nothing to write about here. I haven't even managed to take my photos for my May monthly challenge yet, so I'll be playing catch up this week.

Swimming: There was no change in May. This is what I wrote at the beginning of April - I'm not sure whether to keep this in the list as we never seem to get to the pool! It is an activity that will be good for me so maybe I'll just leave it here as a reminder to myself with the aim of getting back to swimming once I've finished with the home improvements.

Reading: I haven't been keeping up with the reading this month, but for a good reason - I couldn't read while lying in a darkened bedroom! I will attempt to read a couple of books this month.

Healthy lifestyle: Even without being laid low by a bug, my health is not too good. I am still waiting for my GP surgery to change my medications so that I can have the tests the hospital has ordered to check on my adrenal gland function so I feel like I'm in limbo waiting for the professionals to get their act together!

Socialising: Apart from attending the Pirate Festival at the beginning of May, the rest of the month was a washout. Hopefully June will be better, although I haven't put any confirmed plans in the diary yet!
