Another Lifestyle Change

There is another lifestyle change that I should have added to yesterday's review, but, as it wasn't part of my original post, I chose to omit it! But ... it's actually really important that I make some changes to this aspect of my life without delay, so I am writing about it now to make myself accountable!

I rarely go out now, unless Niall is with me. This is partly to do with health issues, fatigue, and especially mobility problems (including the recovery from the knee replacement operation), partly to do with lack of confidence, and partly to do with ... I have no idea! However, the end result is that I am losing my independence and my world has shrunk. I used to go out on day trips, theatre breaks, cinema trips, jollies with friends, and solo holidays, but that's all in the past. It's not entirely due to being in a relationship, although that's obviously had a impact on my life, but for some reason I haven't even considered doing anything like that on my own for a long time and I want to change it around.

It's so important that I become more active - I had the results of my latest CT scan today, and it has revealed three new relatively serious conditions that need to be addressed, all of which require some medical intervention but also need me to be doing some regular exercise. With that in mind, I contacted Amy (personal trainer) today and have my name down to resume training as soon as she finishes her maternity leave. We've also agreed to start swimming again and have booked our places in an Over 50s session on Monday mornings. And we're working out a walking schedule, which will either involve using my walking pad indoors, or actually walking out around the estate to start with.

As for the social side of things, I'm hoping to go on a day trip to Brighton with a local coach firm. Two of my friend's daughters live there and the plan is to meet up for the afternoon. I'll firm up on the arrangements once I know that they can both get the time off work. I'm quite excited about that, so fingers crossed that it works out. I have other friends that I can meet locally, so next week I'll get round to organising a few meet-ups in the near future. I'm not sure that I'm ready for a theatre trip to London just yet, but that's a possibility for later in the year. I still have the u3a groups, Canasta twice a month and Something Snappy once monthly, but there are other groups to try if I want to.

I don't want to rush into doing too much too soon, so I will take things slowly on the social side of things. But before I can do too much I need to see my GP and get the referrals to the specialists started.
