Gromit, part of this year's Bristol Sculpture Trail, found in IKEA |
First of all, apologies for my month long absence from the blog. It was a busy month, starting with a holiday in Yorkshire, then a few health issues, and finishing up with pressing the start button on my planned home improvements.
I'm starting on Phase 1, which is the kitchen, bathroom, and the electrics. There's a possibility that the replacement doors and windows will also be done in this phase, but I haven't received confirmation of an installation date for that yet. The actual work will be done in September, with the electrics at the start of the month, the bathroom mid month, and the kitchen fitting towards the end of the month. So, in preparation for all that work, I've made a start on ordering some of the things that need to be delivered before the tradesmen arrive to start the work.
On Sunday we went to IKEA (where I took the Gromit photos) to firm up on the order for the kitchen units and work surfaces. We're nearly there with the planning, and after a visit from the IKEA team yesterday to do a final measure of the kitchen to make sure my chosen design will fit properly, I should be able to place the order either later this week or the start of next week. Once the design is finalised I can also order the kitchen appliance as well ... it will be lovely to have a proper kitchen again after managing with a two ring hot plate, an airfryer, and a microwave since March!
I've ordered the wall tiles for the bathroom and I was lucky enough to get 15% off in their sale, which will help with costs. I'll order the rest of the stuff for the bathroom tomorrow, and will hopefully qualify for a 10% discount, fingers crossed. I still have to sort out the floor tiles for the bathroom and the wall tiles, paint and flooring for the kitchen but that should all be ordered in the next few days.
I'll also be ordering the cupboards for my study and a chest of drawers for the spare bedroom. I'm hoping the study will be completed in October ... ahead of schedule, but completing it early will mean I can get the majority of the moving boxes emptied and have easy access to all my stuff.
Glad you are OK, it is a busy time for you, so much planning.
