The Main Bedroom and the Next Phase

The two front bedrooms have now been decorated and I have my home to myself again, for a while at least.

This is the main bedroom, just to give you an idea of the colours, but I haven't been able to capture the paint effect properly. It's a complete nightmare to photograph as the light reflects differently every time I try, but you can get a rough idea of the effect. The white paint on the right hand wall shows the effect better than on the claret wall. I'm really pleased with how it has turned out - the actual painting I mean, not the photograph!

I'll leave it to dry properly and then move my bed back in over the weekend. The next phase is to get the other front bedroom ready so I can advertise for a lodger and complete the last bits in the kitchen. 

I'm ordering the flooring for the kitchen and the lodger's room tomorrow, and maybe the carpet for my bedroom. It all depends on costs and availability as I want to buy room size remnants for the bedrooms. I can afford, if absolutely necessary, to pay for carpet from the roll for the lodger's room but am hoping I don't have to. If there isn't a room size remnant suitable for my bedroom I'll just manage without a carpet for the time being! 

Once the kitchen flooring is down, I'll ask my BiL and nephew's FiL to finish off the kitchen - fit the skirting boards, end panels, and tweak the alignment of a couple of the cupboards. It won't take long to get that done, but is obviously dependent on the fitting of the flooring, and on their availability. 

Also on the list for this next phase is to buy a new king size bed for my room, as the double bed I am currently using will go in the lodger's room, and sort out the curtains and replacement blinds for the lodger's room. Oh, and get the fireplace finished in the living room.

I think the final stage (living room, hall, and my study) will wait until the autumn. I desperately need a break from it all and anyway, I want to change my focus to the garden and get some plants in the ground.
