The Spare Bedroom

This will be the lodger's room. It's (almost) empty at the moment in readiness for the new carpet to be fitted and once the carpets are down we'll start moving furniture back to the bedrooms ... I can't wait!

I'm wasn't planning to get a lodger just yet but, because things always seem to work out this way, I saw an advert for someone looking for a room in this area who sounded ideal. I contacted him and he came to view the room last night, bringing his parents with him. He said it was perfect for his needs, but as he is a fireman he has to live within a certain distance of the fire station and my home is just outside of that distance so he will need permission from the Fire Chief to live at my address. He would be perfect as he works 12 hour shifts at the station and is on call for a number of nights per month, so would hardly be here. I wasn't planning on having a male lodger but he is DBS checked, seems like a really nice bloke, and I thought that he'd fit in well.

So now it's a waiting game. He had other places to see but they were all very expensive and outside of his budget. We left it that he'll let me know what he decides and whether permission is granted to live at my address, and take it from there. Fingers crossed please.
