Five on Friday | The Little Things
Read | I finished reading 'Summer of Ghosts' by P.D. Viner. I'm glad I finished it but I don't think it's made it to my list of books to recommend. I also read 'Gray Mountain' by John Grisham - I haven't read any of his for a while and I enjoyed this story. I'm now about half way through 'Scaredy Cat' by Mark Billingham - I've watched a TV adaptation of this a few years ago and can vaguely remember the story, but not enough to spoil my enjoyment of the book.
Watched | No, nothing again this week.
Heard | Nothing that stands out - I've had the radio on in the car but at home have opted to enjoy some peace and quiet.
Made | I've made a huge dent in sorting the stuff in the spare bedrooms. I'm about half way through the first attempt and am on track for over half the stuff to be donated to charity.

Worn | I've lost over a stone (14lbs) now, so am able to wear some of the smaller sizes in my wardrobe - nothing new, but I haven't worn any of it for so long, it feels like it's new!
And Lastly ... today, I booked return train tickets, a 2 night stay in a London hotel and a ticket to see Les Miserables, all for the grand sum of £11 ..... plus some really old Thomas Cook vouchers which I won years ago and forgot about when Ced's illness took hold of our lives. I found them again when I was decluttering and, to my surprise found that they were still valid. So the July trip to London is sorted and I have enough vouchers left for another trip later in the year. See ... decluttering does have its benefits!

Well done on the weight loss Eileen.

Congratulations on your weight loss and yes de-cluttering really does seem to have its advantages. Enjoy your trip to London and have a great weekend xx
ReplyDeleteSounds like a good week.
ReplyDeleteWell done on the weight loss. I hope you have fun on your London trip and show. Les Miserables is one of my favourite musicals. It makes me cry every time I see it.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend
Lovely to have a trip to London to look forward to. I haven't read any of the books you mention so must look them up.
ReplyDeleteThat is great with what you found decluttering! Glad they were still valid too with the vouchers! WTG with the weight loss! It is paying off in a lot of ways!

ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your weight loss. What a great find, the vouchers makes your next trip even sweeter, have a great time.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on getting it all together! Weight loss isn't easy, and neither is decluttering. You certainly deserve such a great trip!
ReplyDeleteVery well done on the weight loss. It's so hard! And finding those vouchers seems providential!
ReplyDeleteyou could've titled this post Lost And Found. so great when you find a voucher that's still valid. that doesn't usually happen!
ReplyDeleteHow did you grab such a bargain for £11?! I love Les Miserables. It's one of my favourite ever stories. x
ReplyDeleteHow lovely that your vouchers were still valid - have a wonderful trip.
ReplyDeleteWonderful that your vouchers are still valid. Have fun (Les Mis ... a favorite). Congratulations on the weight loss and the discovery of a new wardrobe. :)
ReplyDeleteHow lovely to have a trip to anticipate!
ReplyDeleteYou have earned a grand multi-faceted reward for your noble decluttering! Bravo!
ReplyDeleteI just read Gray Mountain recently and found the description of strip mining very unsettling. I do love, however, that with John Grisham the good guys always win.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great time in London! A good reward for all of your sorting out efforts. Beautiful summer delights! I am sorry to be so late visiting, we had a minor domestic drama yesterday - nothing serious in the end, all ok - but I didn't get a change to do any blogging. Thank you so much for taking part in Five On Friday, I do appreciate it! Hope you are having a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteWhat an interesting meme. Might return to it later this summer.

Well done, Eileen on the weight loss - I really need to make a start before I win the 'who ate all the pies' contest!!! Pleased to see your vouchers are still valid and hope you enjoy your trips to London. De -cluttering does bring benefits. Everytime I tidy up my craft stash ( I don't have a designated room) I find stuff I bought ages ago, some items I don't really remember buying at all.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your weight loss, what an achievement!
ReplyDeleteSo jealous of your planned London trip (and £11? WOW!), I'd love to see Les Mis. xx
