A New Laptop
I now have a new laptop and I'm hopeful that, once I get it set up, it will resolve the issues I have had with blogging. Fingers crossed! It looks gold in the photo but it's reflecting what I'm wearing (the pink colour) and the effect of the ceiling light in this room. It's actually silver, and was a real bargain ... £128 for an unused Dell laptop running Windows 11 and with licensed versions of Microsoft Word and Excel installed. I brought it from a man who advertises on Facebook Marketplace and who Niall has bought from before. I usually buy direct from Dell but that's an expensive option, which I can't afford at present, so this was a good back up plan for me. I'm not expecting to have any issues with it (Niall never has) so I've saved myself a lot of money which can now be put towards the renovations.
Setting up the new laptop won't be as straight forward as it usually would be as all the discs for the software I want to load on this one are still packed away. Also, there's the added problem that I don't have a CD drive on this new laptop so will need Niall's help to get everything loaded. I have ordered my new family tree software, which is due to arrive tomorrow, and I did have the gumption to order it on USB, not on CD, so I will be able to load that at least.
The electrician will be here all week, so we're in for another noisy time. He's a lovely bloke but I am glad when he stops ... I'd forgotten just how noisy and dusty installing new electrics is, or maybe I've just got older and can't tolerate it as well as I once could. Also, all the kitchen units (IKEA flat packs) are due to be delivered tomorrow (Monday). We cleared out the master bedroom over the weekend ready for all the flat packs to be stored in there, out of the way until they are needed.
