Kitchen - Day 1

Yay! My BiL and his son's FiL started fitting the kitchen this morning. This was the first cabinet to be assembled and placed in position (but still has to be attached to the wall) and I am more excited than I thought I would be that the work has actually started. I seem to have been talking about it and planning the layout for ages!

BiL arrived early to sort out the hall cupboard where the cleaning equipment and supplies will live, so that's another area sorted and ready to use. I've gone for the same arrangement as I had in the previous house as that worked well so I couldn't see any point in overthinking things! The cupboard's original use was for coats and shoes but I've allowed space for those in the new furniture in the main bedroom (due next month), and I'm buying a storage bag for my wheelchair so when that arrives, the wheelchair can be kept in the garage out of the way - I don't use it much at present but the storage bag should keep it clear of spiders when it is needed!

At the speed they're working, I don't think it will take too long to get all the kitchen units in place. As I type this, the three tall units are assembled and in place, a couple of drawer units are assembled but still have to be positioned correctly, and they have removed some more of the laminate flooring. I'll be back tomorrow with some more photos and a progress report.
