The Alphabet Project | H is for Hagioscope

I've chosen a hagioscope for this week's Alphabet Project.  For those of you who may not know what this is, a hagioscope (sometimes called a squint or a leper window) is an opening through a wall of a church at an oblique angle which allows worshippers who are seated in parts of the church from which the altar is not visible to see the elevation of the host.

  1. That is interesting. I've seen these but never realised what they are for. #AlphabetPhoto

  3. Lucas says - Te Mother read this to me and explained what this was. We went to a Church a couple of weeks ago and there was one of these there. Now I know what one is :) #alphabetphoto

  4. Now that's interesting. It brought back loads of memories from when I went to church with my mum as a girl. They had these and I was always trying to jump up and look through it. Great photo :) #alphabetphoto
