The Simple Woman's Daybook - Wednesday March 4th 2015

Outside my window ... the light is fading.  It's been a lovely sunny day and more of the same is forecast for tomorrow.
I am thinking ... about Ced.  It is the second anniversary of his death today and I'm feeling fragile.

I am thankful ... for good friends who watch my back and know when I need supporting.

In the kitchen ... so many dirty dishes - where did they all come from? I'll have to do the dishes as soon as I finish this post.

I am wearing ... skirt, blouse and cardigan.  I haven't changed out of my work clothes yet.

I am creating ... lesson plans for one of my schools.  I've decided to do composing with the class so now need to prepare the relevant worksheets and flashcards.

I am going ... to do an art course, starting in June.  It's a watercolour and acrylics course for beginners, and is something that has been on my to-do list for years.  I can't draw to save my life so I'm hoping the teacher has a lot of patience and a good sense of humour!

I am wondering ... whether I can afford a holiday in London this year. That's on top of the other holidays and weekend breaks I already have planned.

I am reading ... Elizabeth is Missing by Emma Healey.  It's the same book for both book groups this month, which makes life simpler!  I've only just started it but think I'm going to enjoy it.
I am hoping ...  that the niggling pain I've had in my side all day is not yet another kidney infection.  Back to the doctor if it's still there tomorrow.
I am looking forward to ... meeting friends for a curry tomorrow night.  We do this every month and it's always a fun event.
I am learning ... some new music so that I can join in with the Monday music sessions in one of the local pubs.
Around the house ...  I'm starting to see the knock-on effects of the decluttering.  I think I've nearly reached the stage where everything has been looked at and sorted into 'keep', 'sell' or 'dispose' piles.  Surprisingly, the 'keep' pile is the smallest!
I am pondering ... weight loss, and why I've put it on a back burner - not intentionally, but the weight will start creeping back on if I don't start making this a priority again.

One of my favourite things ... lemon meringue pie!
A few plans for the rest of the week ...
  • Thursday: non-teaching day, curry with friends in the evening
  • Friday: teaching all day
  • Saturday: band practice, shopping for new shoes
  • Sunday: working in the garden if it's fine
  • Monday: teaching all day
  • Tuesday: teaching in the afternoon
  • Wednesday: teaching all day

A peek into my day ... I've been teaching all day, one school first thing this morning, back home for an early lunch and then off to my afternoon school where all of the children reached their milestone targets and will have certificates presented in assembly.  It's the first time ever that all of the children in a school have achieved it at the same time so I'm feeling quite proud of them.
I'll be spending the evening on my own.  I'm feeling emotional and would rather stay in on my own rather than force myself to be sociable.
A favourite quote for today ...
"Never be sad for what is over, just be glad that it was once yours." - unknown

  1. Take care Eileen on what must be such a difficult day.

  2. Looking forward to hearing about the art class and the book. Wishing you a peaceful evening of quality "me" time. Your quote rings true but I know how hard it can be.

  3. Sending you my very best wishes Eileen.
I recently read Elizabeth is Missing and also The Memory Book

  4. {{{{{{{{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}}}}}}} a lovely post and a very fitting quote. Take care. xxx
