Weekly Reflections

Reasons to be cheerful ...
  • replenishing my food supplies with a supermarket delivery and being lucky enough to book another delivery for mid May
  • visits to the theatre and fun quizzes via Zoom, but especially seeing the Les Miserables Staged Concert (for the third time this year!)
  • a visit from Julie, observing social distancing, so she sat in her car and I stayed in my doorway while we had a loud (shouted!) conversation.
  • hearing from my niece to say that she's been accepted for her teacher training at a local school in September. She's retraining as an Early Years Teacher.
  • finally getting the kitchen cupboards sorted ... so much better now!
  • finding photos and videos of Baby P in my inbox ... she's a beautiful little girl and I have loads of cuddles to catch up on

I am grateful ...
  • that the plumber was able to repair the leak before there was too much water damage
  • for the support of friends and family

  1. Lots of very good things to be cheerful & grateful for. My first curb side pickup grocery order will be ready this Thurs - I booked a month ago & it was the first available spot. I've already booked my May pick up date. My last shopping was 3 weeks ago & I was a nervous wreck being in the store. Congrats to your niece.

    1. The supermarket food delivery has definitely given me peace of mind. I don't feel comfortable asking others to shop for me even though I have lots of offers.

My niece originally trained as a secretary but wanted a change of direction so went back to Uni to get her degree which hopefully she'll complete by July, and then she transfers to the other Bath Uni to complete the teacher training certification.

  2. Some very good reasons to be cheerful and grateful, Eileen. I really like this weekly format, as it seems more immediate. Congratulations to your niece!

    1. Seeing things written down every week is definitely helping to raise my mood which is why I changed to weekly.

I think my niece will be a brilliant teacher.

  4. I had never imagined I would be thrilled to receive a supermarket delivery but this morning one arrived from ASDA. I have a regular, weekly delivery arranged because I am part of the 'shielded' group. One good thing to celebrate! (Would you qualify for this? It certainly takes a weight off my mind.)
The bath started leaking before the official 'lockdown' but around the time it was becoming 'risky' to invite people into one's home for fear of germs. (What an awful thing to have to write down!) So I decided to leave having it mended until 'after' the coronovirus. Wondering how many years I will now be without a bath. Thankfully I have a separate shower.

    1. Yes, I qualify but it's still difficult to get a delivery slot. There is the standard weekly delivery for people in the shielded group but too much would go to waste because of food allergies so I need to stick to my own choices.

I would have waited to get the sink repaired if possible but water was stained the ceiling below so I decided not to wait. I have to get a roofer in to look at the chimney so will go ahead with that as it's all outside and I won't need to get close.

I'd miss having a soak in the bath so I hope it's not too long until you can get yours sorted out.

    1. The good things are there and this is part of my way of training myself to look for them.
