Five on Friday

I'm joining in for the first time with Amy's 'Five on Friday'.  This is a weekly link up where participants share five things on a Friday.  These things can be connected in some way or not, it doesn't matter.  Today I'm sharing five intentions about what I hope to accomplish over the next month.  The photo is loosely connected with no. 1!

One Finish tidying the garden and take the rubbish over to the skip (I don't pay for the green bin collection!).  Draw up a plan for the stone patio I'd like to replace the slippery decking and arrange for some quotes.  I keep putting this off (and I honestly couldn't tell you the reason why I do), so it's time to get my ideas down on paper and see how much it is going to cost me.

Two | Complete the (boring) financial things that need to be done.  I don't want to go into detail here but a couple of things are long overdue and are preying on my mind.  Once these things are in progress I will be able to set my retirement date, so I have a good incentive to get my act together.

Three | I've completed my summer list of planned activities and days out so I need to think about what I want to do from now until the run up to Christmas and also for the holiday period itself. I have already booked a few things - a trip to the Harry Potter Experience and 2 trips to the cinema to see the National Theatre Live screenings of Hamlet with Benedict Cumberbatch, and Of Mice and Men.

Four | Send some unwanted items to a charity shop.  It seems unlikely that I'll get around to having a car boot sale now so I'm going to sort through all the stuff that was earmarked for the car boot sale and donate some of it to charity.  This should give me quite a bit more space in the spare bedroom.

Five | Set aside some time to create and update a Flickr page for my photos.  I still haven't finished editing some of the photos I took earlier this year, including the ones from the workshop I attended in Anglesey.

I'll review my progress in the first week of October.

Thanks to Amy for organising this.

  1. Thank you for joining Five On Friday! A great way to note your next five big things to be doing. I hope that you can get them all done. I have a growing pile in the hallway of things to be taken to the charity shop - tomorrow!!! - I want them gone gone gone, so I can understand why you feel the same about sorting through your things. I hope you can sort the finances and then retirement out, exciting times ahead!! I hope that you have a great weekend! xx

  2. Both my husband and I took early retirement and have never looked back. We often say we don't know how we found time to go to work, we are always so busy with our hobbies and outings. Hope it all goes to plan for you.

  3. 'This was good to list these 5 things and then to go back in October and take a look at what you accomplished to move ahead in these goals. All seem quite doable too!

  4. A gal after my own heart - a list maker. I find if what needs to be done is in writing on the kitchen counter I'm more likely to accomplish things.

  5. Pretty Petunias. A good list can make any day better. Hope you have a great weekend and get to tick off several list items.

  6. You sound very organised Eileen. The best bit about drawing up a list is ticking everything off once you're done. Hope you enjoy your outings. :-)

  8. Those are 5 great things to do for the week. I need to do some of 4 and declutter some more. You will enjoy Five on Friday. Hope to see you joining in again. BTW, I'm Linda from Canada and I usually join Amy for her weekly link up.

  9. Those are such great goals. I have been writing down a few myself. Paperwork is the worst... I always find myself procrastinating on it and then find myself in a pickle when deadlines suddenly appear. Good luck with everything! =) Aloha.
