Friday

I didn't get much done in the garden yesterday but I'm not beating myself up about it. I abandoned any pretense at work and washed the garden furniture so that I could sit out on the patio to eat lunch. There aren't going to be too many more days when it's warm enough to eat outside, so I wanted to take advantage of the warmer weather while I can.

It was the perfect weather for a walk along the canal. L doesn't really like walking so we stayed put at mine and I delayed my walk until she'd gone home. I didn't walk too far, just headed along the towpath towards town and then rested in the sunshine on the bench near the bridge which takes you away from the canal to the outskirts of the town.

I only had my phone with me but had intended to take more photos than I did. All of these were taken are at the start of the walk around the marina and then I forgot to take any more!

The next two photos are possibilities for the SPSH.

No 7 | a curving path

Late afternoon by the canal was delightful - warm sunshine and a gentle breeze. I've talked with friends about the mindfulness walks and events that seem to be advertised everywhere and would like to do our own version of one. A couple of us have been on these walks before but not together, and have discussed the different approaches we've experienced - I think the canal would be an ideal location for our first walk. We haven't made any firm plans but I'm hoping we can get our acts together and make this happen. Another thing to look forward to.

I tried a new to me recipe last night ... keema curry made with turkey mince. I'll probably play about with the spices next time but it's definitely a keeper. I made enough for two meals so have eaten one and the other is in the freezer for an easy meal some time next month.

Today I'm at home. I'll do a bit in the garden but also need to pop to town for some fresh vegetables and bread, so I'll call in the library while I'm there. It'll be a good opportunity to look at the list of events and clubs to see if there is anything of interest.

    1. It's even hotter today - a last little heatwave before summer fades into autumn.

The marina and canal is indeed a lovely place to walk. The area is well used by locals and visitors (as this stretch of the canal towpath is also part of the National Cycle Network).

  2. I like the idea of creating your own group/walks for mindful practice & I'd like to hear more of what you decide. Your bridge & curving path are perfect examples for SPSH. Happy weekend.

    1. I'll tell you all about it when we reach a decision.

I still have six more photos to find and a couple more where I'd like to find better examples.

  3. Splendid photos as always.
What a good idea about the walks. I loved my foraging stroll yesterday and thought I really ought to do it more often.

    1. Thanks Joy. You mentioning your forage stroll is a coincidence - I've just seen an advert for an 'identifying edible fungi' walk which I was considering attending but when I tried to book a place I found that it's sold out. I'm hoping they have sufficient interest to organise another one.
