Weekly Reflections

Reasons to be cheerful ...
  • Baby P is out of hospital 😀
  • finishing the re-organisation of my digital photos files
  • D, the gardener, started work on my garden (I will write a separate post about this)
  • five items sold on eBay!
  • getting a delivery slot with Morrisons, which will arrive on Wednesday
  • after months of waiting my peace lily has produced a new flower stem

I am grateful ...
  • for my neighbour checking my car for me
  • for the rainy days refilling the water butt
  • the support of family and friends

    1. I thought The Wiz was brilliant. I watched Matthew Bourne's Swan Lake again as well.

  2. Fantastic news about baby P. My peace lily flowered a couple of months ago, first time. My Christmas cactus also flowered a while ago, again for the first time. I moved my bird table to a more open space in the garden, filled it up and within five minutes a tiny bird came, had a drink then a lengthy bath. It was so wonderful to watch. It is the little things that bring the most joy to me.

    1. I don't think my peace lily had enough light. It flowered once I moved it to it's new place.

That's interesting about the bird table being in a more open space and attracting the birds. I have my feeders hanging on the fence but will need to move them as the garden is redesigned so was debating about a free standing feeding station on the patio.

It definitely is the little things in life that bring the most joy.

  3. That was most welcome news about baby P. It is also wonderful to hear that taking a few days off have helped you feel a bit better. Your Peace Lily blooming is a sign that you too will be blooming shortly.

    1. It's wonderful news about the baby ... just the best!

I'm nearing the end of lots of personal projects which have been hanging on for too long so I think the wobbly moment is tied up in the uncertainty that changes I'd planned now have to be delayed until safer times.

  6. Hoorah for Baby being home :) What a relief! I love it when the peace lilies and the mother-in-law tongues bloom. Nice!

    1. Oh, such a relief.

I've decided I need some more houseplants. I love peace lilies but don't know much about mother-in-law's tongue ... I'll have to Google it!

    2. Mother-in-law tongue is one of those can't be-killed plants ;) The flowers are small and not really noticeable, but I think the plants themselves are striking. Around here (Memphis, TN) they do well outside in their pots except in the winter, but make wonderful house plants year 'round.

    3. They seem to be indoor plants in this area. We don't have warm temperatures for them to be an outdoor plant.
