I completely forgot I was meeting J for a meal last night but thankfully she messaged me mid morning to check so I ended up in the right place at the right time. We tried the King's Arms again and this time they were serving food so I ordered a homity pie, J had chicken fajitas, and we were able to finally use our 10% off drinks and food token. It was a good evening, the food was delicious and reasonably priced, so I'm sure we'll be going there again. It means I'll be catching up on my TV programmes today now, as well as watching the second episode of A Farm Through Time tonight.
I managed to get the meal planning finished. The shopping lists are ready for whenever I decide to get started but there's no need to hurry as I have plenty in for the next couple of weeks. I will look at starting on the batch cooking next week so that'll be the first shopping trip, probably on Sunday. I've planned X amount of breakfasts, X amount of lunches and X amount of dinners and am following Bless' idea of having a list of suggested meals for each week rather than creating a day by day meal plan.
I have a much more important shopping trip to fit in today, which is to take Miss H to buy all the items on her stationery list for senior school, something I've done for all my nieces and nephews and for all of their children. I've also offered to sew the name tags on Miss H's and her sister's uniforms ... there'll be a lot for Miss H because she has a complete change of uniform now she's off to senior school but there shouldn't be be too much for Miss C as she's been at the school for two years now, so just a few replacement items hopefully. I'll collect the uniforms when I meet them today and will get started on sewing the name tags straight away ... the new school year starts a week today.
