239/365: lofos flowers

Yesterday afternoon was devoted to sewing the name tags on the girls' uniforms so it's all finished for another year and waiting for collection. I spent the morning out in the garden tackling some of the deadheading, and the evening catching up with the TV programmes I'd missed earlier in the week.

I'll carry on in the garden this morning and hopefully finish off the deadheading before the promised rain appears. I doubt I'll do much more than that as L&P will be travelling to London today and will be breaking their journey to spend an hour or so with me. It'll be great to see them face to face again, rather than via Zoom.

And that's about it for today. Once L&P leave I'll have a book calling for my attention so will probably spend the rest of the day reading.

  1. Did you find the sewing on name tags tedious? I know I would have done but it's done now and you are kind to do it for the girls. Enjoy your day with your friends.

    1. Yes I did. It's not my favourite task but easy enough to do. I always do it all in one go, just to get it over and done with!

Thanks, I'm looking forward to seeing them this afternoon.

  2. That's an unusual flower! I don't think I've seen them, before.
Well done getting the tags all sewn on! Sounds like the garden is keeping you busy! Enjoy your visit with your friends and the book that's calling to you! :)

    1. I hadn't heard of this flower until I saw them advertised in one of the garden catalogues. The other one is white but it's not in an easy position to photograph.

I have more to do in the garden at the moment because M is on holiday and won't be here until next week, a month since her last visit. I felt I needed to make some effort in her absence!

I'm looking forward to seeing my friends this afternoon but equally, am keen to carry on reading my book. Thankfully the annual sewing on of the name tags is over for another year!

  3. What a lovely plant, the leaves as well as the flowers. I think it is the shape of the leaves and the pattern on them. I have one plant in the garden that I love the leaves especially with the raindrops on them, but do not like the flowers, so cut them off. I have just treated myself to some new dies that are leaves, they are called "Skeleton Leaves", they are quite stunning cut from copper mirri card so I think I may have a play with them this weekend and a read of my current book. Have a great visit with your friends and enjoy the weekend. Helen S.

    1. I agree, the leaves/flower combo really works. The climb or trail so next year I am trying them in a hanging basket. What's the name of the plant where you only like the leaves?

I should imagine your new die will look amazing in copper mirri card. Enjoy your crafting and reading today.

I'm having a great time with my friends ... they've just gone out to get supplies as they are staying overnight now so we need more breakfast goodies, and I'm using the time to catch up on comments.

  5. I have just looked up the correct name for the plant, I know it as old lady's mantle.
The correct name for it is Alchemilla mollis so I have now learned something new, however remembering it is another thing. Helen S.

    1. I'm with you ... I only like the leaves, that's why it's not in my garden!

Lady's Mantle is a prettier name anyway!
