I had a lovely time with L yesterday afternoon but she didn't stay for the evening once she knew I was planning to watch the André Rieu concert and especially when I mentioned that the Les Misérables concert was on again ... L doesn't 'do' musicals! The possibility of a hotel break was talked around but no decisions on that yet. It's something I'd like to do but don't know if I can afford it this side of Christmas, so maybe for next year. We have agreed that we'll go out for an afternoon tea soon though!
There's nothing at all in the diary for today. Personal training is cancelled due to holidays so I will do some of the exercises at home instead, and then aim to get out and take some of the photos I need for the SPSH and for my own monthly photo challenge. We didn't have much rain yesterday, just a couple of showers, and it looks like today will be the same so I shouldn't have any troubles dodging the raindrops!
R contacted me with one of those 'saw this and thought of you messages' about a Family History Open House at the Wiltshire History Centre. It's a free four hour session in September which offers help in dating photographs, suggestions for breaking through those brick walls all genealogists encounter from time to time, and offering advice of how to organise your records, etc. There's also the opportunity to meet some of the county archaeologists and hold some of the artefacts, as well as specific advice on overcoming any Ancestry issues. It should be a good session. I think it's one of the Heritage Open Day sessions so I must remember to have a look and see what else is on in this area. I also received a video of her son, my great nephew Little Man, 'reading' a story book aloud ... it was the story of Stick Man, which I don't know at all, but I could make out all the mentions of Stick Man even if I couldn't understand anything else! I recognised his version of the Postman Pat song in the second video though! 😊
