Packing Up the House!

the latest gift of books from my sister ...
they should help get my reading back on track

I doubt I'll be going out today. After a few days break for Christmas and New Year I need to get back on track with packing up the house. Friend Julie has been a real help and is keeping me supplied with sturdy cardboard boxes from her workplace so there's no excuse for not getting on with it. There's plenty that I can manage without until after the move so my plan is to carry on and get that stuff packed in boxes.

I packed everything in the music room before Christmas so that room now just has the piano, a stack of filled packing boxes, and the other instruments in their cases. I then moved on to my study and that's about half done. That's the room I'll concentrate on today, and if I get it finished (unlikely), I'll make a start on the small bedroom. My bedroom just has clothes to pack nearer the moving date. I've already packed most of the ornaments in every room so once the upstairs is finished I'll just have the living room and dining room to sort out, plus anything in the kitchen I can manage without for the time being. My goal is to finish this stage of the packing up by the end of next week.

I started reading a Kindle book last night, one of my Christmas presents, so I'm pleased to have made a start on one of my goals for this year. It's "Sweetpea" by C J Skuse ... not my usual choice but despite the bad language, it's made me laugh out loud a few times already.

  1. Good luck with the packing up! I wish I could help because I love to pack up; it's the unpacking and putting things away that I hate!

    1. Thanks Bless. You're welcome to come and help ... don't you fancy a holiday in chilly England? I'm the opposite and prefer the unpacking, seeing the new place turn into my home. xx

  2. Sending all good wishes. It must be strange packing everything up, but hoping all good things wait for you in your new home.

    1. Thanks Lyssa. It is strange. I love this house and it's been a good home for me. I will be sorry to leave my brilliant neighbours behind, but new adventures await and I am excited about that. xx

    1. Yes it is. She passes all her books to me and, once read, I pass them on to my friends. It works out well and saves me a fortune!

I know in my mind what I have to do ... it's making myself get on and do it that the weak link in the chain! 😏xx
