Some Good News, Some Bad News!

Let's start with some good news, shall we? First of all, the antibiotics did their job and I no longer have pneumonia, or to be exact, the infection has gone but I still have the fatigue and cough. Those two symptoms will take a bit longer to disappear, especially when you take into account the bad news, which is that I now have pleurisy! So, a change of medication, lots of rest, and see how it goes!
Still on health and I had my final appointment about the infection in my left eye. Treatment is finished and I am so lucky that it hasn't affected my sight at all. When my eyes were tested and examined on Thursday the sight in the affected eye was just as good as the sight in my good eye, and I was able to read right down to the bottom line on the eye chart. I was originally told that I'd need laser treatment to clear the front of the artificial lens, but recovery has been so good that it is no longer needed. This is such a relief, because the chances of saving my sight were slim, and I know I have been extremely lucky. A bit of bad news is that there is now a membrane growing at the back of my eye which will eventually need a different sort of laser treatment to clear it, and unfortunately, it's the sort of thing that will grow back!
There's some good news on my house sale at long last. All the enquiries have been answered and everything is ready for exchange and completion. However, my purchase isn't going quite as well and we are waiting for the seller's solicitors to respond to some questions. These were submitted on January 8th and despite frequent requests from my solicitors, the bad news is the the other party is failing to respond. This is despite their initial pressure for a speedy sale, so I have no idea what the problem is. We won't complete until February now, which is frustrating to say the least.
Despite all the ups and downs, life is, I believe, heading in the right direction. My aim for what's left of this month and carrying on into February is to focus on the social side of things and resume meeting up with friends and attending the u3a groups I belong to. I still have to reschedule my second knee replacement operation, but I'm waiting until the pleurisy has cleared and I've moved to my new home. Fingers crossed that that all happens sooner rather than later!
Wishing you well Eileen. I had Pleurisy a few years ago and it took a while but I returned to good health. I hope that the house sale goes through okay. House buying is always so stressful.
ReplyDeleteThanks Carole. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the pleurisy clears up quite quickly but it doesn't seem too likely at present. It's good to hear that you returned to good health after your bout of it. I will be glad when the house buying is completed ... it's taking way too long and I just want to get settled in my new home. xx
DeleteIf it's not one thing, it is another. So sorry to read you're still unwell but it's great about all the good news.
ReplyDeleteWhen we sold Dad's house, there were hold ups that were caused by the solicitors (both) not getting things sent on, chased up, etc, in a timely way - and this was with both parties wanting a quick process. And one is very aware that another meeting with them just racks up the final bill. So frustrating.
Good luck and I hope that by the time you are well enough again everything is ready to go through quickly. xx
There's a lot of 'hurry up and wait' there. It will be hard for you to take things as steady as you need for pleurisy and recovery from pneumonia in the middle of the house move. Sending hugs. Perhaps you can spend some time working out the most ultra efficient way to move. Take care.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you've got some good news and the pneumonia is gone. It does sound like a nasty infection! Ugh. Houses seem to take forever to sell! When my sister was selling Mum's flat it took almost a year. The other party was just about to give up as sister could never could get the place she needed to answer questions to answer them! Hope for some resolution for you soon!
ReplyDeleteI do hope that you recover well from all your health issues and the house sale goes through without any further complications and delays.
