Thursday

Famous last words! After saying I felt I'd be okay the next day, I was laid low by yet another migraine. I'm back on my feet now but will have to take it easy for the next few days. I don't have the energy to read or watch TV so I really am doing nothing at the moment.

G will be here soon to cut my hair. I was going to cancel but decided to keep the appointment in the hope it'll cheer me up. Once she's left, I'll change the bed sheets, have a soak in the bath, and then try to eat something more substantial than dry toast. Luckily there is nothing in the diary until Monday so I have the luxury of doing very little for the next few days!

Thank you for your comments on my last post.

  1. Oh, dear. Are these a part of your recovery and a reminder to take things very, very carefully, do you think?

    1. Migraines have always been a feature of my life especially during my 20s and 30s. For the last 15 or do years they have been controlled by prescription medication so have not had too big an impact on everyday life providing I take the meds at the first sign that a migraine is starting. The most recent ones are probably due to being run down following the bout of pneumonia and the meds aren't doing their job at the moment. Sometimes it's better to just let the migraine run its course as trying to stop it seems to trigger a run of them. I think that's what happened this time so I didn't try to stop the one on Wednesday and am hopefully on the mend.

    1. Thanks and yes, I have lots of offers of help. However,I know that this is going to happen so I am always prepared for it with suitable foods in the freezer/cupboards.

    1. You're right, the soak in the bath helped and I have also managed to eat some vegetable soup so am starting to feel much better.

  4. I'm so sorry you've had yet another migraine. I hope recovery will be soon and you will rest! Please don't try to push yourself to do anything. Just allow yourself to have a complete rest. Sleep and don't do anything more strenuous than listening to some soft music.

    1. Unfortunately I'm used to it so know what to do to get back on my feet. I know from experience that I will continue to have one migraine after another if I don't make an effort to break the cycle. I've taken all the medication I'm allowed to take for now so tomorrow, assuming I don't get another migraine, I will go out for a short walk and then catch up with the laundry ... I'm at the stage where I need to work through it. Nothing too taxing, but something productive to take my mind off how I feel.

  5. That's awful having two migraines back to back. I think a nice quiet weekend should put the cause on the run & hopefully so nicer weather to allow you a walk or two. Talk care my friend.

    1. It's too cold to go out today so despite my good intentions, I am curled up on the sofa reading. My sister sent a bag of books round this morning so I have plenty of choice.
