Thursday
Well, I paid the price for the lemon drizzle cake and the scones and the jam and the brownie and ... you get the idea! I've been avoiding added sugars in my diet for well over a year so my body did not respond well to the amount of sugar in the afternoon tea treats and I definitely didn't feel 100% yesterday. It was worth it though! I'm absolutely fine today 😊
The nutrition club was about eye health but it was more to do with conditions like glaucoma and age related macular degeneration, so very interesting but thankfully information that I have no need of.
The style class continued with visualising your own style and we looked at photos of various women to decide the overall aesthetic, the style elements and the style tweaks of their outfits. The aesthetic relates back to style personalities and is the 'look' as a whole. The elements are the finer details such as the use of colour, layers, textures, patterns, accessories, etc,. and the tweaks are to do with what the wearer has done to the clothes they are wearing, so collars turned up, jumper draped around shoulder, shirt untucked, and so on. As an exercise it was interesting but for me, it's the tweaks that lose me with styling and I'm not particularly interested in spending time on it ... which makes the new challenge rather difficult for me - we have to be open and experimental and look at the items in our own wardrobe to create a 'new look'. From the way she was talking I think she's imaging us all having a much greater choice than my reality which is that I don't have five different jackets to choose from or a seemingly endless supply of shirts and blouses! I know that sounds like negativity on my part and I could try with what I have but ... I've decided that I won't do this particular challenge. I will definitely continue with the class and glean what information I can from it with the aim of creating a wardrobe filled with items I can mix and match, that suit my body shape and lifestyle, and which I feel comfortable wearing.
It's supposed to rain today and for the next five days, so a few at home days spending time on some more of the decluttering; placing some adverts and make a start on getting the stuff ready for a trip to the recycling yard. The Indian cookery class recipe is butter chicken which I'm not that fond of but I'll watch the demo anyway, just to pick up any tips.
*************************
- 1st = 2 stained storage boxes (to be recycled)
- 2nd = a band fleece (only worn once so returning it to the band as I will never wear it again)
- 3rd = 3 sci-fi books (gifting to L)
- 4th = digital photo frame (never used, sold to H)
- 5th = a measuring jug (to be donated as I never use it)
- 6th = a band tie (returning to the band)
- 7th = unused greetings cards (I'm unlikely to use them so they will be donated)
- 8th = a pair of shoes (one of the heels is wobbly, so only fit for the bin)
- 9th = discoloured drinks bottle (in recycling bin)
It's raining here already so the weather forecast looks about right for a change. Learning about eye health is very worthwhile, it's good they cover it in the nutrition club. I don't know about your wardrobe but I keep items that no longer fit just in case I lose sufficient weight and they'll fit me again and this is where I need a serious declutter, I really should get on with it. It sounds like you'll have to ration yourself with the cake treats for a while.
ReplyDeleteWe've had a bit of rain and a warning for thunder later on which won't be long arriving if the dark clouds are anything to go by.
DeleteShe's covering ear health soon. Eyes and ears was in response to people asking for info and she is very good about responding to requests like that. I'll be interested to hear if there is anything we can do nutritionally to help with tinnitus.
My wardrobe is a mess! I've cleared out all the things I was keeping 'just in case' and which I decided I'd probably never wear again anyway, so am currently left with lots of individual pieces, the majority of which don't really go together to make an outfit. A lot of the talk in yesterday's class was about using accessories, so adding belts, big necklaces, scarfs etc., but that really isn't my style at all and I don't have anything like that to experiment with ... I think I may be a disappointment to her! 😂
Yes, I'm going to have to go careful with sugary treats. Eating out, I'd choose savoury anyway but H likes her baking so I'll have to somehow mention it without hurting her feelings.
Glad you did not pay too high a price for the treats. Ah eye health is something over the last 6 years I've become very familiar with because of Mr Man's 3 surgeries (& another scheduled in October) & ongoing eye issues. All 4 of the specialists he sees recommends Lutein as a supplement, which we have both been on for the last 5 years. Thanks for sharing the info from the style class.
ReplyDeleteI've messaged you x
DeleteI decided a lot time ago is that my style is cheap and comfortable! Otherwise it's for othersw. :-)

I'm with you there! So far the course has been useful and has made me think about how I want to dress and in a way I suppose this session was good as it confirmed exactly what I don't want. I just hope she reins it in a bit for the future sessions. xx
DeleteGlad you are feeling better after the sugar overload, yesterday! The style class is getting to the finer details I guess, but, perhaps you can ask for tips on managing with a minimal wardrobe? I hope you are enjoying your rainy day. I know you spent the morning practicing your piano pieces; hope the afternoon and evening are as pleasant. :)
ReplyDeleteI looked back at the course content and we will cover capsule wardrobes in a future session. Maybe this session was a one off and I know from the questions/comments that some of the other participants thought the same as me.
DeleteAfternoon and evening was pretty much dominated by piano playing as well so, yes, I had a pleasant time thanks. x
