132/365: Mexican fleabane

It's the anniversary of Ced's birth today and, had he lived, he would have been 83 years old. It's been an emotional week so far with the birth of the baby and the death of a friend, and now it should be my special time to celebrate Ced's life but I'm a bit of an emotional wreck so any celebrations are on hold until after the memorial service for my friend on Saturday. For now, all I plan to do in the way of celebration is have an Indian meal delivered tonight.

Today is set aside for some retail therapy. I'd hoped to do a bit of food shopping yesterday but timings didn't work out so I have to do that without fail, and then I'll be free to hit the garden centres! I'm just buying the plants for the nine pots today ... the new wooden planters will be planted up later on. I've made a list of possibilities but really it depends on what is available. I definitely want some cosmos and some lobelia but really, anything that fits in with the overall colour scheme will do just fine ... it'll be nice to ring the changes a little.

  1. Have a wonderful time at the garden centre. Those planters will look lovely.

    Thinking of you. xx

  2. I find going to the garden centre with a list doesn't work for me and as you say it's best to see what's available on the day. I hope you find what you are looking for and have a wonderful day full of happy memories xx

  5. A quiet day of just you & your memories of Ced are probably enough for the time. I had a quick trip to a local farm where she grows bedding plants (annuals) & I was quite taken aback by the cost of plants - I'll be doing a lot less of the annuals at these prices!

  6. Well, I am not endeared by the name of those blooms (fleabane?) but they are pretty just the same. Enjoy your retail therapy. Hopefully that and an Indian meal can calm your emotions a bit. A quick trip to the garden center may be on our agenda too, as one bush planted last fall did not come back. Want to bet we don't come back with something else as well?
