Wednesday

Well I made a start on the spring cleaning yesterday and it'll be more of the same today; just a couple of hours effort and I should be able to finish cleaning the rest of the blinds and the remainder of the upstairs windows. I didn't achieve as much as I wanted to yesterday ... procrastination was the order of the day and I just couldn't get going so I have to be stricter with myself today and start as soon as I've had breakfast and my medication has kicked in. My reward for two hours of spring cleaning will be a walk over to the marina.

My friend T, knowing I like curry, gifted me an opened jar of tikka paste. She tried it for the first time on Sunday but said it was too spicy for her and she thought maybe I'd like it rather than her throwing the rest away - she bought a huge jar! I defrosted some chicken overnight and will use up the tikka paste today to make several portions of chicken tikka, one for tonight's meal and the rest for the freezer. This impacts on my meal plan for the month as the chicken was intended for other meals but I'm sticking with my 'no food shopping in April' goal and will amend the meal plan accordingly ... luckily I do really love curries, so this isn't a hardship in any way!

Three photos from yesterday - the daffodils and summer snowflakes are still looking good, and the magnolia buds are starting to open.

  1. It really is hard to get going with spring cleaning as the task can seem overwhelming. Enjoy your walk later. Beautiful photos of your flowers, those summer snowflakes are so pretty.

    1. That's the problem ... I do feel overwhelmed by the spring cleaning but it needs to be done. I'm just going to do a bit every day until it's all done, by which time it'll probably be time to start again!

    1. I was pleased she thought to pass it on to me and there are now five portions of chicken curry in the freezer plus the one I had today.

  3. How kind of your friend to give/share the sauce with you. In an online meeting last night, our county's Chief Medical Officer also had the head of the mental health unit on the panel & she talked about how the pandemic is making many feel & deal with procrastination & being easily distracted. So you can put the feelings of you'd rather do anything that spring clean, down to a symptom of the pandemic. The big suggestion was lists on colourful paper, fun chalk boards & sign boards to use as gentle reminders. :)

    1. I'd like to blame the pandemic for my feelings about the spring cleaning but if I'm honest with myself, it's more to do with detesting housework in any shape or form whether there's a pandemic or not! I do like the colourful paper suggestion though although that would just serve as another distraction from actually getting on and doing the cleaning!

  5. Hi Eileen,
It's good that your friends share the culinary products with you.
About cleaning I clean when I need it and I stopped doing general cleaning. That makes it easier. I clean a little at a time.
I loved your flowers. They are wonderful ~.
Hugs and continuation of a good week.

    1. It was very kind of her to think of me.

I decided today that, when the current situation improves, I will pay for a cleaner again.

  6. Maybe you need to break down your spring cleaning tasks into more manageable bits - instead of all the upstairs windows, do one window a day? Yes, it will take longer to finish them all, but, it might not be as overwhelming. Now, if only I can actually follow my own advice, my own house will be much cleaner! :D

Nice of your friend to pass on the curry paste to you and you were able to use it. :)

Beautiful photos of your flowers, too. I like how you are able to blur the background.

    1. I think you're probably right Bless. I need to rethink ... maybe decide on one thing every day and if I feel up to doing more, count it as a bonus.

It was very kind of my friend to pass on the curry paste. I didn't think it was spicy at all but she was unable to eat it and said it was too hot!

Re the photos - thank you. These were taken with my DSLR and the blurred background is achieved by using aperture priority and small f value.

  7. Eileen you put me to shame. I feel as if I have wasted a whole day today doing nothing in particular. Oh well I suppose it was very cold. The spring flowers are looking beautiful.

    1. I didn't do as much as I'd hoped to as I forgot about the nutrition club when I wrote the post. Never mind, it'll get done one day!

It was bitterly cold here but I did manage a short walk to the marina this evening.

      I'm loving the spring flowers!
