Saturday 4th December
I've just about caught up with myself after those few days feeling unwell following the booster jab. Yesterday I did all the washing, three loads so that all done. I dried the first two loads in the tumble drier so was able to remake the bed with the same bedding and put the same towels back in the bathrooms. The third load was clothes which I left to dry overnight on the clothes airer and will put everything away later on. The laundry basket is almost empty, just containing the clothes I wore yesterday! I also hoovered around downstairs and cleaned the toilets so the essential housework is done and anything else can wait until next week.
All of which means I can have a leisurely weekend. I have a ticket to see Six the musical at the theatre in Bath early this evening. When I bought the ticket, just after the last lockdown, the theatres were socially distancing the seating arrangements by limiting the number of tickets available for sale but things have moved on and the previously unsold seats were released for sale a couple of months ago. The combination of that, the fact that local Covid cases remain above the national average, and all the unknowns surrounding the Omicrom variant means that this particular event falls outside of my own parameters for safety so I have decided against going. When I bought the ticket I knew there was a possibility I wouldn't be able to go so I'm not too disappointed. There will be other, safer, opportunities to see the musical in the future.
I don't really have any plans for what I'll do instead. It's supposed to be another sunny day so there's a possibility of going out for a longer walk that usual and maybe taking my camera with me and, although I haven't made any firm arrangements with family, there's every chance I may see one or all of them at some time over the weekend. My sister has some more books which she said she'll drop round for me, and I'm hoping to see both nephews as well.
Tonight's entertainment to replace the theatre trip will be a film or two from the selection on Disney+, which I'll choose once I settle down for the evening. To go with it I'll have some chicken biryani, hopefully homemade if I have all the ingredients or a takeaway delivery if not.
I think you're very wise not to go, Eileen. It's still just too uncertain. A shame but better safe than sorry. xx
ReplyDeleteTo be honest, it was an easy decision. I probably would still have gone if the seating was still socially distanced, but I definitely don't feel ready to be seated amongst a big group of strangers. xx
DeleteWow! Look at you getting all the housework done and laundry caught up, etc.! I got tired just reading about how productive you were! Sorry you have to miss the show, but, I think you made the right decision. Enjoy your relaxed weekend. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's the 3 loads of laundry that makes it sound so productive. Take that away and all I did was hoover and clean the toilets!
DeleteIt's a shame about the show but I doubt I would have relaxed enough to enjoy it if I went.
It's a shame you'll miss the show and I don't blame you for giving it a miss. It's good you were recovered enough to get all you housework done so you can have a relaxing weekend.
ReplyDeleteI think I'd be more disappointed if I knew the show well but I don't know 'Six' at all so don't know what I'm missing, if that makes sense.
DeleteI'm pleased to have the housework out of the way so I can spent the weekend feeling smug that it's all done 😂😂
Glad you've caught up after not feeling well. That last jab was the worst one of the lot, but I don't regret getting it.
ReplyDeleteSorry that you can't go to the theatre. It is probably for the best though. I still feel strange about being amongst too many people - not that I liked it much before all this started! I did like it when people gave you space, but now it seems a lot are back to getting too close again. I feel like walking around with a hoop saying 'personal space! personal space!' and not all because of the virus, but just because I don't like a lot of people in my space lol
Thanks Sharon, and it's the same for me ... the booster was definitely the worst one.
DeleteI'm okay about the missing the theatre and for now will stick to streaming shows at home. I'm quite happy to avoid crowded areas, especially as so many people seem to be ignoring mask wearing and social distancing. I can imagine your hoop idea ... maybe you should patent it!!
