Weekly Reflections

 Reasons to be cheerful ...

  • chatting with family and friends
  • benefitting from lack of stock at the supermarket when my last order was delivered - 12 batteries for the price of the 4 I'd ordered, and 8 pork loin chops for the price of the 2 I'd ordered!
  • loving the Christmas greetings and well wishes arriving daily in the form of greetings cards
  • learning the details of H's photography challenge for next year
  • feeling at ease about not meeting my target to complete the decluttering - this is something that would have previously upset me and maybe triggered a bout of depression, but I have been able to remain positive and set myself a new target
  • breathing a sigh of relief that my car passed the MOT with no issues and has also been checked for the winter weather conditions
  • trying out, and enjoying a new-to-me online book club and a coffee and crosswords group
  • deciding to attempt another 365 photo project next year
  • swapping my air fryer for a much smaller one and regaining some much needed worktop space as a result
  • exchanging Christmas gifts with friends, earlier than usual but we weren't sure whether the rising Covid numbers will bring more restrictions as we get near to Christmas

I am grateful ...
  • for central hearing, snuggle blankets, and woolly socks!
  • that my sister has recovered from a severe reaction to her Covid booster jab
  • for easy access to information as well as the support of friends which is helping me to make a decision about the way forward on an aspect of life that I continue to find difficult

Lifestyle changes
  • exercise:
    • 45 minutes daily walk. Achieved, but mostly indoors
    • 30 minute workouts twice a week. Complete fail again ... this may have to come off the list!
    • 20 minutes daily knee strengthening. Achieved
  • weight: 1lb loss

  1. Well done on those generous supermarket substitutions, the online ordering definitely pays off at times. A new target for your decluttering is sensible, you have done so well so far and it matters not that it takes a while longer than planned. I'm glad your sister has recovered from having that bad reaction to the jab. Well done on the weight loss and don't worry about over-indulging at Christmas, it's a time to relax and enjoy.

    1. I was chuffed with the substitutions this time, both things I wanted and will use! I'm now hoping to get the decluttering finished by Easter but if I don't manage that, I'll just keep going.

My sister has been very poorly following her booster, needing bed rest, and is still suffering from a sore throat and cough. She wondered whether she's actually had flu or maybe the new variant and it's just a coincidence that it happened so soon after the booster jab.

Don't worry, I have some treats planned for over the Christmas period and will worry about continuing the weight loss in the new year. x

  2. Such a lot of good news today - and well done with the weight loss. I shouldn't worry about the workouts, there are lots of other ways to get active and maybe formal workouts are just not your thing.
    xx

    1. Thanks Joy. Regular exercise and being more active is top of the list to sort out next year. I still haven't managed to incorporate that in my live even though I'm aware just how much I need to, so I need to get my thinking cap on and come up with a different approach! xx

  3. Lots of good reasons for being cheerful and those are some excellent reasons to be grateful. I'm so glad your sister is recovering from her reaction to the booster! Well done on being at ease with extending your decluttering goal deadline. For me, decluttering is a process. I don't think I will ever be fully decluttered unless I have to sell my house and move, like my cousin is doing! Even she will be taking a few boxes with her when she moves! :)

    1. Thanks Bless. My sister is recovering and that's the most important thing. I agree with you that decluttering is an ongoing process but the items I'm wanting to let go, and which I refer to as finishing the decluttering, are things that belonged to Ced or to my teaching days and are things that I definitely have no wish to keep and should have all gone by now. It all takes up a lot of space and I don't have room for it. I'm sure once I do sell off this last lot there will be more to do if I bothered to look ... but I won't look ... not yet, anyway!

  4. Pleased that you've decided to join me in the 365 challenge, it'll be my first for about 6 years and I'm really looking forward to it.

    1. I'm really looking forward to it too and it's all thanks to your post saying you intended to do the 365 challenge again. Have you decided whether you're posting daily or weekly yet?

    2. Planning to post daily, also intending to be a couple of days ahead of myself all the time, so I can schedule ahead if need be, and also in case I get poorly through the weeks/months ahead.

  5. I'm glad your car passed the MOT! Bet that's a relief - and it's nice not to have the added cost. I haven't decided about a 365 challenge. I might do another phone photo one as I managed to complete that one quite nicely.

    1. It's definitely a relief! I'm fairly sure that my 365 photos will have a garden theme. Hopefully this'll make it easier and more likely that I'll complete it. I hope you do decide to do another phone photo one.
