Blogger is playing up again! It's the same problem as last time where I can comment on some blogs but not others. My links to some of the blogs I usually comment now take me to a version of that blog which doesn't have a functioning style template attached so a screen full of html script is displayed instead. I can access some of the blogs via the profile page but only if I can find a comment from them on one of my posts, so if I am unable to comment you now know the reason why. I know it's not just affecting me so am assuming that lots of you are experiencing the same problems. Blogger resolved it quickly last time so hopefully that will be the case this time as well.

I've joined a local U3A. This one doesn't have an Italian conversation group but it does have other groups that I'm interested to try out. I'm starting with the book group and will be going to their first meeting in October when their chosen book is Steal by James Patterson ... it's a group of eight, nine once I join, which is a nice size for a book group. There's also a History and Archaeology group which has a schedule of interesting talks and visits planned for the next few months and is another group that I'd definitely like to try. In addition to those I have a list of other possibilities but I don't know for sure that I'll join any or all of them ... it seems like a lot but, with one exception, they all only meet once a month so there's plenty of variety without taking up all of my time. So also on the list is Natural History, Bird Watching, Canasta, Photography, and Strollers ... the strollers meet weekly for an hour long walk, which would be a good addition to my exercising.  On paper it should provide what I'm looking for, i.e. a chance to make new friends with shared interest but of course, it all comes down to personalities so I am keeping an open mind. Fingers are crossed though!

It's the State Funeral of Queen Elizabeth ll today. I think the TV coverage starts at 8 am and ends at 5 pm, so that's my day planned for me!

  1. Blogger can be extremely irritating. Like most tech, it's great when it works! I hope things sort out for you soon. xx

  2. I'm having the same Blogger problems too and have to leave a comment for you via a comment you've previously left on my blog. I wonder why that is as most other blogs I read are still displayed and updated in my side bar. That's a good choice of groups you could join and a book group is a good and interesting start. Our television will be on all day for the Queen's funeral so not sure when Tilly will be taken out for her walk.

    1. Yes, most of the blogs I read regularly are working fine and yours is okay so far. The blogs that aren't working properly have dropped to the bottom of the sidebar.

The U3A sounds promising. If this book group doesn't work out there is another option via Meetups where a new book group is starting - either one depends on their book choices so I'll see how it works out.

Maybe a nice evening walk with Tilly?

  3. The services at both The Abbey in London & St George's Chapel at Windsor were beautifully done. Such a tribute to Her Majesty, Elizabeth II. I am definitely emotionally spent.

  4. I hope the problems with accessing other blogs will be resolved soon. I hope the new U3A groups work out nicely and you find them very much to your liking. If you like them all, you will have a lot of new dates to add to your diary and opportunities to make new friends. :)
Guess who stayed up all night to watch the Queen's funeral?

    1. Thanks Bless, it seems to have been sorted out again.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the U3A groups, new opportunities are always a good thing .

I watched the Queen's funeral but at least it was on at a civilized time here!
