The End of an Era

It's the end of an era. The death of our beloved Queen Elizabeth ll today marks the end of the second Elizabethan age and sees our new monarch, King Charles lll, assumes the role that he has been training for all his life. May it be a long and peaceful reign. God Save the King.

  1. It's terribly sad, and feels so sudden. I hope and pray that Charles can be and do what is desperately needed. God save the King.

    1. I was aware that the Queen was frail but wasn't expecting this news. Your right, it does feel sudden. I'm hoping Charles will surprise us all and will be the great monarch our country needs. xx

    2. If it hadn't been for Tuesday's photos of her looking so bright and cheerful, perhaps it wouldn't have come as quite such a shock. It's an immense loss of a dignified and worthy sovereign.

    3. I think it's quite common for some people to have that look about them when the end is near. Ced did. xx

    1. She has been amazing and certainly lived up to her pledge to devote her life to our service. Well done indeed.

  3. I was so sad when I heard the news. Wasn't she just accepting the resignation of one prime minister and greeting the new prime minister? She carried out her duties right till the end. May she rest in peace. That second picture you posted seems so appropriate and poignant.

    1. Yes, she asked Liz Truss to form a new government on Tuesday, so carried out her duties right to the end.

The second picture was first published after the Platinum Jubilee but it's now all over Facebook, with the caption "I've done my duties Paddington, please take me to my husband". ❤️

  4. Although she was 96 it never seemed like it . It seems that her health deteriorated significantly after Philip died .It did come as a surprise as ,although she had been getting fragile ,she had
continued to fulfil her duties and I just thought it was a gradual thing and never expected it .

  5. I am heartbroken by The Queen's passing. I don't think she has ever recovered from Prince Phillip's passing, but now they are together again. Long Live The King.

    1. I agree. There seemed to have been a steady decline since his passing. It's comforting to think they are together again xx

  7. Given I am not a citizen of the UK, I found myself affected by this much more than I thought. She was certainly a one-of-a-kind role model. The photo of her corgis at her funeral procession made me tear up. (If they had been dachshunds, I would have been bawling.) It is indeed the end of an era.
