Weekly Reflections

268/365: lofos

Reasons to be cheerful ...

  • phoning, texting and emailing with family and friends
  • ordering some new glasses - my current pair was bought during lockdown and have never been comfortable to wear!
  • enjoying a few hours at Westbury White Horse
  • pottering in the garden
  • enjoying a visit to Joy's home to see her new extension ... and to chat as well, of course!
  • treating myself to two new books - The Ink Black Heart by Robert Galbraith and The Bullet That Missed by Richard Osman - I've read all the other books in both of these series so am sure I will enjoy these two as well
  • booking all the tickets for my birthday treat to myself - details nearer the time!
  • joining the U3A and signing up for their book group
  • getting my Covid booster jab
  • enjoying a long phone chat (2 hours) with L

I am grateful ...
  • for getting a speedy hospital appointment to have my eye health checked
  • that my sister's medical problem, whatever it turns out to be, has been picked up quickly
  • for the NHS and free medical treatment

Lifestyle changes
  • daily walk: Achieved
  • weekly personal training session: Achieved
  • twice a week - 2 x 10 reps of each of three exercises: Achieved

  1. I have those two books too. I've really enjoyed the Galbraith although some of it was hard to read. I haven't started the Osman yet - maybe later on this week.

    Have a lovely day. xx

    1. I'm still reading the book group choice so have these to look forward to 😊

Hope you have a good day too xx

  2. It's good to treat yourself and your birthday treats sound intriguing. For all the problems in the NHS they are there when we need them and I am grateful for the wonderful service too.

    1. The tickets are all for one big birthday treat!

I think I may have been lucky to get this appointment so quickly. My sister has been told that she may have to wait six weeks before she gets seen. We're lucky to have the service the NHS provides though.

  3. Another week with plenty to be cheerful about and grateful for! Looking forward to reading about the planned birthday treat! :)

    1. You'll hear about it next month ... ticket availability meant that I will be celebrating a month early!

  4. Hope they sort out your eye problems quickly, we are so lucky to have the NHS.
I am looking forward to hearing what your birthday treat is?
Have a great day and enjoy your new books. Helen S.

    1. Thanks Helen, and yes, we are definitely lucky to have the NHS.

My birthday treat will be revealed towards the end of October so it's not too long to wait.

  5. I haven't read those books, but they sound really good. If I ever get to the end of my reading pile those would definitely be some I'd be interested in. Glad about the new glasses! I really need to get my eyes rechecked. I bought new glasses during our short lockdown (had to as mine broke) but couldn't have my eyes checked so it's been a while.

    1. I've enjoyed the other books in both series so am looking forward to reading these. Galbraith is JK Rowling pen name.

I can't wait to get my new glasses and have a pair that actually fits properly!

  6. Glad there was good news on the health treatment front for both you and your sister. That Osman book is on my TBR list too.

    1. Thanks Susanne. The Osman books see to have mixed reviews, people loving them or hating them. Have you read the first two?
