Lots more lovely rain yesterday! I was caught in two heavy showers while out for my daily walk and I was soaked to the skin, so a timely reminder that I need appropriate clothing if I want to continue walking outdoors now that autumn is creeping in. I did enjoy my warm shower when I got home though ... bliss!
I didn't get much done yesterday once I heard the announcement that there concerns about the Queen's health. I watched the breaking news on TV and then of course, the sad announcement of her death. I was more affected by the news than I thought I'd be and spent a good part of the afternoon and evening in tears.
It's going to be a bitty sort of morning today, finishing off a couple of decluttering related tasks, dealing with some emails, printing out some new-to-me recipes for the next lot of batch cooking, and a quick trip to sort out the tyre pressure on my car ... the warning light came on on my way home on Tuesday.
This afternoon is set aside for another look (online) at the options available via the U3A organisations in this area. I've tried various ones before, sometime successfully, sometimes not, but they do have a lot of group activities to join and I think I'd be daft to ignore that. I'm looking at the Warminster U3A who offer a fortnightly Italian conversation group, a monthly family history group, a monthly card/board games group, and a monthly Sunday lunch group. They have loads of other groups but these are the ones I'd be interested in trying out. The Italian conversation group is the one I contacted once before and didn't get a response but it seems that they are now back to regular face to face meetings on a Monday morning and are encouraging others to join, so I'll make contact and take it from there. The family history and the card/board games are both on a Tuesday, family history meeting on the 1st Tuesday in the month and the games one on the 2nd Tuesday in the month, which will work out nicely but it'll mean that I'll have to change my personal training slot with Amy. It's the Italian conversation that I'm particularly interested in so will only try out the other groups if the Italian group works out. I still have to look at the Bradford-on-Avon U3A and the Westbury U3A. I've already eliminated the Trowbridge one!
It's a very sad time but life goes on. Feeling very much for her family, especially all the youngsters who, by all accounts, loved her very much indeed and she them. Death is so hard to understand when you are very young. xx
ReplyDeleteI feel for her family. It's going to be such a difficult time for them and, like you say, especially so for all the youngsters. xx
DeleteLovely flowers! Glad you are getting some rain and what's more, we are getting some rain, too! Imagine that! Sounds like you are ready to get back into joining some group activities! I hope you are able to arrange a few to your satisfaction.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I am not getting notifications of new blog posts!
Thanks Bless. We're getting some rainfall every day, but it's mainly showers rather than a heavy downpour. When was the last time you had a decent amount of rain? It's great that you're getting some now though.
DeleteI do feel ready to find some more activities. I spend too much time on my own and although I have plenty of hobbies and activities currently, most of them are solitary. It's the people side of things I am trying to sort out.
I think there may be a problem with Blogger. I've raised a query with their resolution centre.
I was stunned by the news as well. I didn't realise how much it would affect me either and I feel a little like I've lost my anchor.
ReplyDeleteEven knowing her age, it still came as a shock. I feel the same as you, I suppose as the result of losing someone who has been a constant presence all of my life.
