Wednesday

Yesterday turned out to be a very productive day. ☺️

I was waiting in for a friend's parcel to be redelivered to my home so was just pottering about doing bits and bobs, and it evolved into a humongous tidying and organising session. Of course, by the time I'd had enough the whole house was looking a mess so I need to carry on today!

I suppose it's down to living entirely at home for the past year, during which time I've introduced new interests and continued with the old, added Zoom to my life, started projects and left them half finished ... you get the idea. Anyway, things have migrated to different parts of the house and, although I've kept it reasonably tidy, it's all getting on my nerves now. I started moving things back to the 'correct' rooms but then stopped to think through what I really wanted to achieve ... were things really in the 'wrong' room or not? I've decided it's a bit of both so, and I won't bore you with my convoluted thought process, I'm in the middle of re-organising. I should get it finished this afternoon. This morning it's the Life Coach and Nutrition Club sessions so I will make a start once they have finished.

I'm sure you want to know what I bought at the garden centre yesterday ... absolutely nothing! I want to wait for last year's planting to grow to see where there is space before adding to the flower beds. I was looking for a big planter to repot the euonymus but they didn't have anything big enough and there weren't any of the pebbles I want to finish off the edging either.

I did get the groceries I needed so there's a veggie concoction bubbling away in the slow cooker and I'll make some hidden veg sauces later on.

Bradford on Avon was quieter than I was expecting so I passed a pleasant hour or so practicing the photography tips and watching the kingfisher. I didn't get any decent photos of it though, just colourful blurs in every image where it dived into the water every time I pressed the shutter. It's like it knew!

  1. I think that, as things look to be changing again, there's a lot of re-evaluating going on. We have to make it all work for us!

    1. I read your post today and can see you've been doing the same yourself. Everyone will have a different journey out of lockdown but I already know that Zoom will continue to feature in my life, so some of the reorganisation is to create a space for that to happen without cluttering up the living room with laptop and extra table as per the current situation.

  2. You had a look round the garden centre even though you didn't buy anything and it's OK to browse. You'll get there with the reorganising and you'll know when it's just right. Shame your kingfisher didn't pose for your photographs, I know the feeling with our puppy.

    1. It actually felt so good to do something as 'normal' as wandering around the garden centre. According to the staff, they have been rushed off their feet and some stocks are very luck where they underestimated the demand. Understandable I suppose, and it will mean another visit in a couple of weeks when the new stock of hard landscaping materials are due.

I'll know what to expect with the kingfisher next time and will take a different lens and set up on the other side of the river.

  3. Could yesterday's re-org be described as fun? Well it sounds like you made it an adventure of sorts. I think some of what our current life styles are including will continue for a while yet (yes I'm thinking of Zoom meetings). Nothing from the garden centre - you have very strong resolve (lol).

    1. Not exactly fun at the time but the pleasure and removal of stress from the end results will be much the same as gained from any fun activity.

I was only restrained because they didn't have what I wanted in stock!

  4. I am in awe of your organizing abilities! I will not mention the state of my house! :) Glad you were able to get your grocery shopping done and have a look around the garden center. Too bad the kingfisher didn't cooperate with your efforts to photograph it, but, that just gives you another outing/joyful activity to plan, doesn't it? :)

    1. I was aware that the state of the house was creating stress so although this reorg wasn't planned, it was needed. As I see it, it's very little effort for a big reward and it's only moving things around, not cleaning ... the cleaning is a whole other (huge) thing!

The shopping and browsing were a good reminder of normal.

The kingfisher has to learn the rules! It was lovely to see though, even though the photo efforts were rubbish.

  5. Nothing at the garden center?! But you've had a chance to see everything in person and plan for your next trip. I don't have to buy anything to enjoy the garden center :)

    1. When I say nothing, there was nothing I'm ready to buy at present. The annuals are the next purchase for the bulk of the summer colour but am waiting until next month for all of that. Once last year's planting has grown on a bit then I can indulge myself and shop to fill the gaps. 😂
