The Garage Update (cont)

127/365: the other end of the garage

This is the view from the side door of the garage and shows the two signs I want to keep. Both belonged to Ced and have memories attached to them, which is why they are staying. The 'keep left' was in his workshop and if you entered by the right hand door and followed the instructions to keep walking to the left, you ended back outside! I've no idea where he got the pub sign from. Every time I asked he said "the Crown Inn, obviously" but would never actually say which town!

The bags underneath the workbench are filled with gravel which will eventually be used in the garden, but everything else on the workbench has to be sold as does the stack of photography lights and tripods to the left of the chair. On the bench, it's a mixture of photo lighting, aeromodelling, and engineering equipment and I only understand the photo stuff so will need help with the rest. The rotary washing line (behind the chair), which has never been used and is still in its original packaging, will be advertised on the local Facebook page.

The garden table and chairs may be sold and folding wooden ones bought as replacements. This is more to do with risk than appearance, as in the past the cast aluminium ones have blown against the French doors when it gets too windy. The glass in the doors hasn't been damaged so far but I feel it's only a matter of time. I've seen some folding wooden ones that should be easier to put away whenever conditions are less than favourable.

The walls and floors aren't sealed so dust will continue to be an issue for now, which isn't ideal for any photography. I don't intend to store my cameras or backdrops in there so it'll be a case of try it and see how I get on. In the longer term I'll arrange for the floor and walls to be sealed but that's fairly low down in the list of priorities so it may be a year or two before it can be done.

R contacted me yesterday to say that he'll deliver the trellis planters this morning (assuming they are in stock) and once that's done I want to do a final run to the recycling yard to dispose of the last of the rubbish from the garage. I think it'll only be one load and none of it is too heavy so it shouldn't take long to do. Then all that's left on the garage to-do list is to buy a wall mounted holder for the hose and its attachments, and a toolbox to store the tools I'm keeping.

    1. Thanks Bless. The big question is ... how good will I be at keeping it organised? The garage has always been a bit of a dumping ground since I've lived in this house and now it's become a working space for gardening stuff and hopefully some photography, so I will have to keep on top of things

  2. Your garage looks very neat and tidy. We bought some mats from B&Q that click together for our garage floor, they come in packs of six or eight and are great, very spongy underfoot. I do like your signs, nice that they hold memories for you. I hope your planters are in stock and arrive today.

    1. Thanks Eileen. I will go to B&Q to have a look. I can't see it working with all the pots but maybe would work for the other end where the photo set up will be.

  6. I love the look of the cast aluminium chairs, but they are bound to be a risk eventually. I love the 'keep left' sign particularly. Personally, I would add another sign underneath ->

    1. He used to have another sign which had an arrow pointing to the right and 'To The Asylum' written underneath, but I can't find it.
