Tuesday 27th September

270/365: dahlias

I changed my personal training day to Mondays so yesterday I was up bright and early for my session, then spent the rest of the day thinking it was Tuesday. Today, my initial thought was that it's Wednesday ... I think it's going to be one of those weeks! The personal training session has also changed from an afternoon to a morning, which I think is going to be a change for the better if yesterday was anything to go by as the session woke me up enough to carry on and have a very productive few hours, clearing most of the chores on the list for the next few days.

I have a few things to do today to finish the to-do list for this week - admin, post a parcel, wash the floors in bathroom and en-suite, and sparkle all the mirrors. Once that's all done and dusted I'm hoping to get out to have a look for some clothes. I'm looking for a couple of warm jumpers for the winter but doubt I will buy anything today ... strictly just looking until I've been to all the stores. I don't particularly enjoy clothes shopping and know that I tend to buy in haste and then regret it afterwards, so I'm trying to make sensible decisions and buy items that will mix and match with other items in my wardrobe ... that's the plan, anyway!

  1. Good luck - I am also an impulse clothes buyer trying to be more sensible. It's hard. xx

    1. Thanks. I'm not doing too well so far with my plan to create a mix and match wardrobe so am hoping this afternoon's shopping trip changes my luck. xx

  2. The dahlias are lovely! Sounds like changing the day and time of the personal training has worked out well for you, starting the week off with some activity! Have fun with the window shopping for clothes! Hope you find exactly what you are looking for! :)

    1. The dahlias are really pretty but will never grow very big so they will probably be moved to one of the wooden planters for next year.

I think the personal training will be much better on a Monday morning - help me to start the week off right!

I've only seen one jumper I like so far but it won't go with anything else in my wardrobe. I'm hoping it goes better this afternoon.

  3. Yeah to the benefits of a morning work out. I am most definitely more productive in the morning. Your dahlias are beautiful. I really need to get out there & get some new clothes. Most if not all my favourite stores closed during the pandemic with online shopping available & only 1 has returned to store shopping all the rest closed the stores & are keeping to online shopping :( In person shopping for clothes was difficult enough but now with online, I find it nearly impossible to get the fit correct. I know, first world problems :)

    1. It'll be interesting to see how much difference the morning work out makes. I think it'll be a game changer but we'll see.

We've lost some clothes shops during the pandemic and am mostly left with supermarket selection. I'm trying to avoid going to Bath so may end up having to order online. Like you say, getting the right fit isn't easy.

  4. I am another one who dislikes clothes shopping, quite a few of the shops I used to buy from are gone, the only one left for clothing is M & S. I have a few colours of clothing I buy and my rule is they have to go with at least 3 other items, that tends to keep me in line. Hope you find some nice warm clothing that you like. Helen S.

    1. I may have to pinch that rule please. It'll focus my choices and make me think properly about what outfits I can put together. I quite like M&S but their nearest store is in Bath and I'm trying to avoid having to shop there because of the crowds. I'll probably end up ordering online.

    1. Yes, I think the change to a morning session will make a big difference to me.

No luck with finding a jumper so am now looking online.

    2. I quite like my Bon Marche ones. The ones from Morrisons (nutmeg) are lovely and warm, cheap but bobble like crazy. Matalan have been good in the past. I hope that you find something wonderful soon.

    3. I didn't realise Morrisons sold clothes so thanks for that. Bon Marche and Matalan are on the list to look at today. Thanks Lyssa.

  6. I don't tend to buy clothes from supermarkets, like you I buy in haste then regret it. Good luck finding exactly what you want.

    1. I've given up for now - too much on my mind with the eye issues - but will look into getting a couple knitted for me. I won't attempt to knit one myself, but will ask my sister once we know she's okay.

  7. Kudos to you on a Monday workout - nice way to start the week. When we switched our closets I realized that we had so many more fall/winter things than spring/summer. I guess we didn't declutter in the cooler seasons. I bought just a couple things for fall before I realized this. So I am done. I do give myself pretty good credit for matching things up well, though. I just need to downsize it all to a "capsule" size wardrobe.

    1. It is a very good way to start the week. I tend to impulse buy so often end up with items that don't go with anything else in my wardrobe. I need to do better!
