Tuesday
Today almost didn't happen! I got up as usual but was back in bed within the hour and slept for most of the morning. It was just the usual migraine but the prescriptions meds worked and I'm back downstairs, though still feeling fragile. This means the food shopping is postponed until tomorrow, housework is off the radar for now, and I am snuggled up under a blanket on the sofa keeping myself occupied with a mix of reading and afternoon TV.
I had a long chat with my sister at lunchtime to thank her for knitting a blanket for me - her husband dropped it round last night. It's the cream wool I bought to attempt crocheting but gave up (too painful on the hands!) and sent it round for my sister to do. She's knitted a huge blanket for me and the leftover wool will be used to make something for Baby R. We chatted about garden problems, not that I have any, but she has found some slime mould (Nostoc) in her garden. She's been researching the most effective way to get rid of it and was rather worried about one option, which she has no intention of mentioning as there's no doubt it's the option her husband and sons will choose, which is to use a flamethrower. All the other options are too tame for them, so I'll offer her the use of my spare bedroom when they burn the place down!
Last night I watched the first of a new series on BBC4/iPlayer, The Great British Photography Challenge. It's similar to Sky Art's Master of Photography which I watched and enjoyed though the British one is more of a master class and there are some good tips to pick up. Chris Packham was involved in the first episode and he demonstrated using a mirror in his wildlife photography which I will definitely be trying out.
I ordered two T-shirts which arrived yesterday. I like both of them but they are a bit baggy on me so I measured myself again. I knew I'd lost some weight, and it is noticeable in my face, but was delighted to discover that I've lost 2 inches from my waist and 1.5 inches from both bust and hips! 😀😀
I'm sorry you didn't have a good day, maybe your body is telling you you not to be too active and rest a little bit... I hope you feel better and accomplish all your plans for this week.
ReplyDeleteI'm feeling fine now thanks Irune. I've suffered from migraines all my life and am currently in a pattern of frequent attacks so it wasn't unexpected. At least the medication works!
DeleteSorry to hear about the migraine, but, glad you had the meds for it and they worked. Do continue to rest and take it easy. That was very nice of your sister to knit you the blanket and I hope you'll share some pictures of it, later. I hope your sister is able to rid her garden of the slime mold, although the flamethrower sounds like a bit much! I'm glad you can offer her a room if needed! :D
ReplyDeleteThanks Bless. I won't overdo it but it's sometimes it's better to be doing something as the migraine won't disappear completely if I just relax. Sometimes I need to concentrate on something other than how I feel and work it off.
DeleteI will take a photo of the blanket, probably tomorrow.
Flames sound like overkill but we just know the men will go for it if they are given the choice 😂😂
Ack Glad you're feeling a bit better.
ReplyDeleteI hope they put that photography show on one of the subscriber tv things I have. I'd like to see it. Nice of your sister to do the blanket
The first episode is on YouTube but don't know if access is restricted to specific countries. Search for Great British Photography Challenge 2021.
DeleteHow lovely of your sister to finish the crocheting for you. Boys & their toys, although a flame thrower may just be too much (lol). How appropriate to watch Great British Photography Challenge as it was National Photograph Day. I have blueberries, I have cream cheese, so maybe a blueberry cheese to celebrate its day! Glad the medication helped with the migraine.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely celebrate Blueberry Cheesecake day. It'd be rude not to if you have the ingredients!!
DeleteYour boys and their toys comment made me laugh! Thanks.
I'll look up that photography programme, it sounds really good. Thanks for mentioning it.
ReplyDeleteFlame throwers sounds a bit extreme. Would it work with ground elder and bindweed < grin >.
I hope you wake today feeling very much better.
xx
Behave! 😂😂
DeleteI hope you enjoy the photography programme. I don't quite 'get' some of the choices of photos but I picked up some useful tips and suggestions.
I'm much better today, thanks. xx
Wow, inch loss is always so much more rewarding, I think, than numbers on the scales, well done. Hope you are feeling lots better today (wednesday) x x
ReplyDeleteThanks Joy. I hadn't realised the inch loss was that much so am chuffed about it! I am much better today thanks xx
DeleteI'm glad you're feeling better now. Well done on dropping a dress size and that always feels good, a great achievement.
ReplyDeleteThanks Eileen. I'm holding off on clothes shopping now until I drop another dress size or two. 😀
DeleteSorry to hear about the migraines; does the spring weather flair them up. We've been struggling with lots of congestion headaches, which luckily are cured with a quick pill. And congrats on the weight loss - it is nice to see the evidence in your clothes.
ReplyDeleteI get hayfever so that doesn't help but I get the migraines all year round with no noticeable difference between the warmer and colder months.
DeleteThanks re the weight loss.
Just watched the Great British Photography Challenge. Enjoyed bits of it so Will definitely tune in again next week and see how it develops... Thought Chris Packham was very good.
ReplyDeleteThe blanket your sister made is beautiful!
I'm always shocked/disappointed in a lot of the photos in these sort of competitions. I don't know if they are 'art' or whether it's a case of the emporer's clothes, but I don't 'get' them. In this programme it was the beach photos - I wasn't impressed with any of them.
DeleteI thought the Chris Packham section was the best part of the programme and thought his critique and advice was more useful to the competitors.
It's soft and fluffy and I love the blanket but mostly I love it because my sister made it for me 😊
Well, must admit that some of the photos gave me hope! In that I thought mine weren't too much worse than theirs! I thought the programme as a whole felt quite bitty, instead of focusing on something from the start and seeing it through.
DeleteThe Brighton challenge seemed a bit ridiculous: #beach gave them nothing much to work with and then he told them they should have gone into the town, to the arcades! I don't know anything about him but I liked his pictures, not so much him! Most of what he said seemed scripted and most of his feedback was about himself, whereas Packham was constructive and gave useful advice.
Anyway, will be interesting to see how things go on.
Yes, I'd love it if anyone made me a blanket like that too. I've often thought I'd love a homemade quilt.
