This Week ...

I have another week of waiting in for deliveries (all to do with the garden) so will need to be flexible and time spent with friends and family will have to fit around the dates and times notified by the various couriers.

Social: It's choir practice tonight which I'm looking forward to. I haven't seen the email yet to tell us what we will be singing, but I don't think there will be any new songs this term. We have our end of term (online) concert in a couple of weeks so will probably be singing through some of the songs previously learned just to refresh our memories.

I'm hoping to see Joy for coffee in her garden one day this week, and to meet up with J and with L as well. It all comes down to when I have to wait in for the last lot of deliveries so it's a case of taking it one day at a time.

Online Classes and Talks

Wednesday: Nutrition Club

Thursday: Indian Cooking

Friday: Nutrition Focus

Health and Fitness:

I'm aiming for a 30 minute walk every day, outdoors if possible. Also at least one of the 20 minute exercise videos.

Home and Garden

Home: The focus on decluttering continues. C will be here one evening to help me catalogue the video equipment and then I will just need to submit the forms and sit back to wait for the quotes. Completing the forms is a time consuming task in itself so I'm not anticipating having the time to tackle any of the other items on my decluttering task list. I love lists!! I'd also like to catch up with the housework as I didn't finish everything over the weekend. There's still a couple of loads of washing to do and the floors to be hoovered/washed, so I just need to set to and get it done.

Garden: It's just watering duties this week plus any deadheading that's needed, so an easy week for me. M will be here on Friday and there will be loads for her to do - move some plants, deal with all the new ones, and the never ending weeding. If she has time we can make a start on transferring the remainder of the topsoil from the drive to the garage.

Food: This week I'm meal planning for an entire week of Indian meals using the recipes from the Indian cookery class for all the breakfasts, lunches and dinners in that week. I'd like to get to the stage where I can create a shopping list, especially for the spices I'll need, but I haven't yet decided on the date I'll actually put the meal plan to use. It's a work in progress!

End of Lockdown Adventures

  • this week: arrange to meet with friends for coffee
  • by the end of June: at least one more trip to National Trust/English Heritage property
  • within twelve months: complete a minimum of twelve items on my post lockdown wish list

and finally, Hobbies:

Reading: still listening to The Red House Mystery by A A Milne

Italian: 15 - 20 minutes daily practice,

Piano: 30 minutes daily practice

  1. Couriers are quite good at giving delivery windows so I hope you manage to fit in all your meetups with family and friends this week.

    1. Thanks Eileen, it's working out so far. Two of the couriers have delivered during their stated times and there's just one more due today, so I was able to fit in a walk this morning and will chat with L later on.

  2. What a fun way to "travel" is through culinary experiences, a week of India sounds adventurous both in the kitchen & imagination. I wonder what movies you could find on Netflix to accompany your meals to help with a feel of being in India? Hopefully all your deliveries arrive in the time slots they promise.

    1. There are quite a few virtual tours to India so I'll choose a couple of those and definitely a Bollywood movie! There's a good choice of movies set in India but I haven't settled on one yet.

So far so good with today's deliveries 🙂

    1. That's what I'm hoping! I'm on a roll with the decluttering again so hope to have dealt with a huge chunk of it by the end of this week ... that's the plan anyway 😀

  4. Decluttering is something I must do but I never find the time to start...It's very tiring.

The Indian week sounds fun. I seldom try new recipes because although my daughter enjoys tasting different dishes,my son only likes our usual meals so we usually cook the same.

Enjoy the time with your friends this week! :)

    1. My late partner was a collector so when he died 8 years ago I was completely overwhelmed by the sheer amount of stuff I needed to deal with. I didn't do anything for the first two years but have slowly tackled the mountain of stuff and am nearing the end, thank goodness.

I go through periods of trying new recipes, usually after I've stuck to the same few old favourites for a while and am getting bored. Your son sounds like my brothers ... maybe it's a man thing!

I hope you have a good week too x

  5. Sounds like a good start to your week, Eileen, between deliveries arriving when they are supposed to arrive, managing to fit in a walk, choir later in the evening, and hopefully, a chat with L. Plus quite a few activities to look forward to during the rest of the week, too. You'll have to share your week of Indian meal plans with us! My daughter is the adventurous one when it comes to trying different dishes; I tend to stick with the tried and true. :)

    1. It was busy but a good balance between work and play, so an enjoyable day.

I will share my meal plan with you when it's ready. I will need to top up the spices before I can think about implementing it so it won't be until my next food delivery at the earliest. I'm trying to be more adventurous but it's not easy with the food allergy side of things which is why I am attempting the Indian meals - very similar ingredients but I can change the flavours completely with the spices.
