Yet Another Change Of Plans!

I'm back to self isolating! The place where Danielle's husband works has been closed and staff sent home after an employee tested positive for Covid 19 so they're advising everyone they've had contact with as a precaution even though neither of them has any symptoms at the moment. I think it's highly unlikely that I am at risk of having picked up the virus as all my interaction with Danielle was outside and at least two metres distance between us, plus she sprays and wipes down everything she touches before she leaves. However, the safest approach is to self isolate for the requisite fourteen days as the majority of my immediate circle of friends and family are classed as vulnerable. So I cancelled my trip to Stonehenge yesterday and have postponed meeting up with J and L for a couple of weeks ... better to be safe than sorry! I haven't met up with anyone else since Tuesday so I can count the fourteen days from then. I  suppose this is all part of our new normal!

So what am I going to do with myself? More planning and dreaming probably. There's the central flower bed to decide on and I also want to choose some more shrubs for pots. I think it'll be a lot easier to make the decisions on these plants as I have a much clearer idea of what I want in this part of the garden.

However, all of that has to wait because I want to finish reading Lyssa Medana's new book - Out of the London Mist before I do anything else. It's not my usual genre but I am loving it! Lyssa blogs over at Sybil Witters On.

  1. That's a bit of a nuisance but I think you are totally right to isolate again. Better safe than sorry and it's for everyone's sake.

    1. It is a bit of a nuisance but at least I'm in a position to do this from choice and with no financial hardship. Knowing that it's only for 14 days makes it easier as well ... I can see the end date so this isn't something that will go on indefinitely.

  2. I'm sorry you are having to self isolate, but, that is the safest thing to do. One can't be too careful! I wish everyone was as good about it as you are! I love the close ups of the flowers. I can't do that will my cell phone camera - it all looks blurred! :)

    1. I took these with my phone. If yours are blurry it sounds like your are either getting too close, not holding the phone still or the subject is moving, or you are not waiting for the camera to focus before you press the button.

I am being extra cautious. I don't think I will have caught it but it is easy enough to isolate and be completely sure.

    2. I shall keep trying - I think I am doing all the wrong things! :D

  3. How frustrating for you, but the right thing to do, thank you.
I downloaded "I heard the owl call my name" thank you for that too!

    1. I think this will be happening more frequently than any of us would like but it is necessary. I'm just grateful that she let me know the situation as it allows me to choose how I want to handle it.

I hope you enjoy the book. It was one of the set books at uni.

  4. Better to be safe than sorry. I think more and moe people will have to 're-do' the isolation.

    1. Sadly, I think you're right. We have to rely on people acting responsibly to avoid a nation wide lockdown.

  5. Sorry that you are having to self isolate again Eileen. If more people did the same we might be in a better place. Your flowers are beautiful. I am following your garden transformation with enjoyment. My garden is very higgledy piggledy, no design but it works for me.

    1. I only had two things arranged, both of which can easily be rescheduled. I have well stocked freezer and cupboards, so staying indoors for two weeks isn't going to be too hard. I've only just started venturing out and am good at keeping myself occupied at home, so I'm okay about it.

It works for you and that's all that matters. Glad you're enjoying my garden transformation.

  6. Thank you for taking the need to self isolation, to control the virus, seriously. Thank you to Danielle for advising you & not just passing this off. More people should be like you & see the responsibility, the need. In Ontario (& most of Canada) the numbers are rising again after too much too soon release of safety. The most cases are in the under 40 age group. And remember you have us for company! (col).

Like all your photos. Happy weekend, happy reading & daydreaming about gardens.

    1. I'm relieved that she mentioned it especially as she has no symptoms herself and could have just dismissed the risk. The numbers are rising here as well - too many people aren't taking it seriously and too many places were opened up too quickly in my opinion.

I'm expecting you all to 'visit' me every day to keep me amused 😂😂

      Loving your writing style!

  8. Well that's a bit of a blow. As already established, the right thing to do however. Wishing you a bearable, nay fulfilling, isolation. Your flower pics are very pretty.

    2. It's just for a short period so is bearable and I don't think I will have picked up the virus. This is just a precaution. I have the urge to do housework which is more worrying!

  9. Lovely flowers. Sorry about the self-isolating again. At least they were told. Things here seem to be so haphazard and everyone seems worried about privacy instead of informing people. My son's workplace isn't even sure what they are supposed to do. Someone is home sick with symptoms but only that person has been told to stay home and doesn't seem to be going to get tested. All a worry

    1. I don't think they were told other than he was sent home from work and the place is being deep cleaned before he can go back. They just used their initiative to inform people they'd had contact with.

I think in the UK we have to get tested if we display symptoms and then the official track and trace would start if it is a positive test.

You're right, it is a worry that there is so much confusion.

  10. I so love that white flower with the blue centre. Stunning!
A real shame to miss Stonehenge but as everyone says, better safe than sorry.
    Best wishes :)

    1. The white flower is an osteospurmum.

I'm not too disappointed about the Stonehenge trip. I've visited it frequently throughout my life and it's only 40 minutes drive away. I get free access through my National Trust membership so I'm not out of pocket due to the cancellation and I'll rebook for next month, all being well.

    1. It has to be a community effort doesn't it. It's simple enough for me to isolate as I have no work commitments or fear of financial hardships.
