Monday

raindrops on crocus

It's been a lovely, gentle weekend. I haven't done much, just pottering and sorting out a few bits and pieces ... just enough to feel productive. I think this week will follow on in the same way.

Today will be busier but filled with fun things, not the boring stuff. I have my final (for now) personal training session with Amy this morning. She has sent me two routines to use while she is on her maternity leave so we will go through those this morning and make sure I'm doing all of them correctly. I also have my list of breakfast ideas to go through with her if time permits (we'll do it via text, if not) and assuming there are no glaring errors or omissions, I'll put together a shopping list and make the move to the new approach to breakfasts some time this week.

I usually have either toast or toast and soft boiled egg for breakfast so for the most part this new approach will introduce more variety and that variety is important for the nutrition side of things. I'm looking forward to giving it a go anyway. No matter how healthily I think I eat currently, I'm not losing weight so I need to try a different approach ... if I keep doing the same thing I will continue to get the same results! Amy's suggestion is to resist changing everything at once which is how most people start a new diet, but to focus initially on one meal. I've chosen to start with the breakfasts. I'm aiming to eat a decent meal that keeps me full, without snacking, until lunch time. I'll monitor how hungry I get with each breakfast choice and will eventually end up knowing the best meals (for me) to start the day. The idea is that once I have worked out what and how much I need to eat for breakfast, I can then use the same approach with lunch and eventually with dinner.

This afternoon it's the Canasta group, which is always a good laugh. E is joining the group and, like me when starting, doesn't know how to play so it'll be a different sort of session as we'll be showing her what to do and explaining all the rules. There are a couple of things I still get confused about so it'll be a good opportunity for me to get things clear in my mind as well.

Then this evening H will be calling in for a quick visit. She was planning to move back to Westbury but has been offered another job and she's trying to make up her mind about it. The job is for one year and involves cataloguing someone's private collection but it means moving to Scotland (accommodation provided) ... I think it's the distance that is bothering her, but I'll hear all about it tonight.

Oh, and I need to fit some piano practice in as well. First lesson with the new teacher is rapidly approaching!

  1. My husband always says have a good breakfast and it sets you up for the day however I just don't eat breakfast and a glass of water with my tablets and a cup of coffee suffices for me until midday. Have a good day, it sounds fun xx

  4. I'm late commenting; I hope you've had a lovely day. Hope Amy approved your list of breakfasts. I'd be interested to see what you've decided to have for breakfasts. I usually have brunch around mid-afternoon and then, dinner. But, I do tend to snack a lot!

    1. Yes I did have a lovely day, thanks Bless. Amy did approve my ideas and came up with a few more suggestions for the breakfasts list as well. I'll post about it when I decide what options I'll choose for the first week. I need to eat first thing because of my medication so I usually have two full meals and a snack/light meal during the day. At the moment I'm not attempting intermittent fasting. xx
