Thursday

more daffs!

Yesterday's piano lesson was good fun. Lily was pleased with the progress I'd made so I'm happy that I am improving enough between lessons with the amount of practice I am currently doing. We discussed the other piano resources I have at home so will start to make use of them in the lessons and will also start looking at duets. Lily has a book full of duets of the Sound of Music songs, some of which she thinks I'll be able to play so that's something to look forward to. Unusually, Joe was in on a Wednesday so I was able to talk to him and explain why I'd decided to change teachers. I feel happier about that now as I didn't want him to think it was anything to do with him or his teaching style.

M is feeling better and has confirmed that she'll be here this morning so I'll ask her to plant the crocosmia bulbs and have a tidy round where needed. I don't think there's much more to do at present so it should be a shortish visit which actually suits my plans today as I'm meeting L afterwards ... for lunch if it's early enough or coffee and cake if not.

As for the rest of the day, I'll be taking it easy. I haven't managed to get a GP appointment so need to continue resting my knee as much as possible until I do. I'm hoping to get on with my crochet so I can show some progress when the yarn group meets next week.

  1. It's lovely to see daffodils, they cheer us up after the long winter months. I'm sure Joe appreciated your explanation re: changing teacher. Have a good and restful day xx

    1. The bright yellow is very cheering and I've decided to add some, in the form of crocosmia, to the summer garden as well. It was good to have the opportunity to talk to Joe and explain my reasons. xx

  2. Those daffodils are so pretty and cheerful looking!
That's great that Lily was pleased with your progress and you will start on duets, next week! Good, too, that you were able to see Joe and explain the need to switch days. Would you continue to stay with Lily if Joe becomes available on Wednesdays?
Glad that M is feeling better and will be able to do some gardening, on Thursday. Coincidentally, my M also rescheduled his day from Wednesday to Thursday morning, due to the wet weather we had.
I hope you will be able to get an appointment with your GP soon. In the meantime, your plan to take it easy and rest your knee sounds like the sensible thing to do.
Enjoy your lunch (or coffee and cake) with L and the rest of your day, crocheting. :)

    1. The daffodils are really brightening up the garden. I love them.

If all things were equal I would continue with Joe as I think he is stronger on teaching technique. On the other hand I prefer the choices of music with Lily and that encourages me to do more practice. However Joe only teaches at this music school on a Saturday... he was only there yesterday as it's almost exam week and he accompanies all the children in their exams and it was their practice session with him. Weekdays he has his own music school but lessons are more expensive and it would be further to drive so additional cost for petrol as well and it all works out to be more than I want to pay.

My knee is pain free today so I have a feeling the doctor will just say I need to lose weight! I will try to get an appointment though. Hope you have a good day too xx

  3. That was good that you could chat with Joe about your why the change - closure leaves it so you don't feel worried or awkward should you have bump into Joe else where. Have you every tried any of those supplements that are over the counter that have good reports on results? I'm thinking of NEM or Genacol for your knee.

    1. I was relieved to be able to chat with him for exactly that reason.

I haven't tried supplements yet but am considering it. xx

  4. Glad to hear your knee is pain free today. Hope you get a GP appointment soon. It is the same here trying to get an appointment with the doctor. When I was having physio on my knee as well as the exercises she gave me to do, walking was encouraged. I have to say that with me the more I walked the better my knee became, but we are all different. Hope you get to sort it out soon. Helen S.

    1. I'm trying to gradually increase the amount of walking I do because, as you say, it does help. I'm unsure whether the original jnjury has completely healed or whether there is another injury. My GP suggested last time that I may need a knee replacement which is why I want to get an appointment. At the moment it's difficult to know whether I am helping or potentially harming. xx
