Taking It Easy

a very tasty cheese scone!

I met J as arranged yesterday for a long chat and a catch up with all the news, and then attempted some shopping. I had no joy with finding a replacement handbag so I think I'll be looking online for that but I did buy a couple of gifts for my 2023 Twelve Days of Christmas gifts. They've been wrapped and put away already so that I can (hopefully) forget what I've bought by the end of the year. I didn't see any cookbooks that I fancied so ordered two books of Instant Pot recipes from Amazon instead and they should be here on Sunday.

I sat down to have a coffee when I got home and felt completely overwhelmed with tiredness so gave in and slept for a big part of the afternoon. I think my exertions so far this week had caught up with me so I need to pace myself better ... where have I heard that before! There's no piano lesson on Saturday this week and I have nothing else arranged until Monday so I'll have three quiet days at home just relaxing and getting my strength back.

  1. Three quiet days sounds perfect.
In my drive to spend very little beyond essentials, I had totally forgot about the twelve days thing - thanks for the reminder. I must start looking. It's not something I want to give up. xx

  2. I think it's much easier to shop online these days, I don't seem to find exactly what I'm looking for when wandering around shops. Enjoy your weekend of relaxation xx

    1. Yes, I think you're right. There's never much choice in Trowbridge and in the past I would have gone to Bath but don't want to deal with the crowds anymore, so online shopping it is! Thanks, hope you have a good weekend too. xx

  3. We shop online a huge amount, in our local town, most of the brand shops have moved out to a retail park, which is huge and no fun to walk around, so we can't get what we want local. Our village is good for food and hygiene shopping.

    1. Our local town centre seems to be mainly charity shops and coffee shops. The bigger clothes stores closed during lockdown and now there's only the big supermarkets and a couple of independents, so not much choice anymore. xx

  4. That cheese scone looks delicious! Sounds like you enjoyed meeting up with your friend. :) Hope you can find your handbag online. Glad that you took a nap in the afternoon; a nice relaxed weekend sounds like just what the doctor ordered! :)

    1. It was delicious! We always have plenty to chat about and I enjoy her company so, yes, I did enjoy meeting with her. I haven't looked online yet but I think that's my best option. xx

  5. Oh my that cheese scone looks SOOOO tasty. March is nutrition month here, so I'm really really trying to keep the focus on healthy choices for meals & no snacking. It is surprising how many shops have closed their physical locations & moved to online ordering only; IMO, some things are just best to be seen before buying. Enjoy the three days at home, my plan for the weekend is home but because of storm warnings, but no matter, I have two new books from the library & cannot wait to get a pot of tea made & settle in with some uninterrupted time with my books. :)

    1. It was. Definitely! They always have good scone in that café. I'm resigned to buying online but a handbag is one of those things that I'd actually like to feel before I buy ... I don't want a hard leather one.

Hope you have a good weekend ... enjoy your reading. xx

  6. I often make cheese scones for my cousin as they are her favourites. Have you looked at Clarks online, my last 3 handbags have come from Clarks and I find them very good quality and last well. In fact one of my old handbags is now being used as my peg bag so still going strong except a bit shabby. Enjoy you relaxing weekend. Helen S.

    1. Cheese scone are my favourite too. You are lovely to make some for your cousin.

I hadn't thought about Clarks online so thanks for the reminder. I looked in the Clarks shop in town but there wasn't a very big selection so their online store will be a good place to start my search.

Hope you have a good weekend too xx

    1. It was delicious! I much prefer a cheese scone to a sweet one even though I really need to avoid dairy ... sometimes it's worth the risk 🙂 xx
