Snow!

Thankfully it started thawing yesterday afternoon but I haven't looked out of the window yet so don't know if any more fell overnight. I hope not. I'll feel much happier if it clears completely so I can relax about travelling to London on Sunday. It's just for an overnight stay, and home again on Monday, to see the musical 'Once' at the London Palladium. It's a one-day only performance so there's no chance of re-booking to see it at a later date but the weather forecast looks promising ... I am keeping my fingers crossed!

H is supposed to be visiting today but I wouldn't be surprised if she decides against it as it's a long drive for her to get to my home and we can always reschedule when the weather improves. Apart from that I have nothing else arranged so it'll be another quiet day at home. The booklet detailing the next few month's events at the Theatre Royal in Bath arrived in yesterday's post and I will be booking some tickets ... the ones I've chosen so far are Heathers the Musical (end March), The Verdict (April), and Six the Musical (August). There may be others but I need to check what's on in Bristol first.

I'll carry on watching the Harry Potter films today - The Order of the Phoenix next and possibly The Half Blood Prince if I have time!

  1. The weather forecast does say the rest of the week looks more promising so my fingers are crossed that the snow clears for your trip. It has been snowing here but hasn't stuck xx

    1. We have rain today and the snow has completely disappeared. I hope it stays like that between here and London until next Tuesday and then I won't have any worries about travelling! I hope your snowfall doesn't last too long xx

  2. It looks pretty but . . .
Ours has all gone. It vanished pretty quickly and even though we had a few spells of heavy snow between the sleet and rain, it didn't even hint at settling again. I was thankful.
    xx

    1. I like to see snow if I don't have to go out but even then, once I've taken my photos I just want it to disappear! Glad it's cleared around where you are. xx

  3. No snow for us along the south coast, we often miss it, thank goodness.

  4. Hopefully the snow is melted by now. Does your town/village have snow removal or clearing equipment to ensure the roads are bare? I'm not one for traveling in bad weather either; it's not so much my driving I don't trust, it is other drivers who not heed the advice to slow down! The world is certainly topsy turvy weather wise.

    1. Yes it's all gone this morning and we have rain instead. The council have gritting lorries for the main roads in freezing weather but snow isn't a major problem in this area and even when we do get some it is unusual for there to be deep drifts of it. I've rarely driven in snow which is why I'm so nervous about it now and it's the local estate roads that are difficult to navigate as they aren't cleared. It's usually okay on the main roads. xx

  6. I hope the snow clears for your London trip. For a change our side of Dartmoor had no snow, which is odd, but I am happy as I do not like driving in the snow, but have to on times. Helen S.

    1. It's all gone this morning so let's hope it stays like that! That is odd. I would have expected all Dartmoor to be covered. I'm very nervous about driving in snow and avoid having to if I can. xx

  7. I Eileen,
Thank you very much for your visit.
Sorry I haven't been here longer, but this year I have classes at the senior university and my time is more limited.
I hope you can see all the scheduled shows.
    Hugs

  8. I had my first driving lesson in the snow! You got a bit more than we did. I too am hoping the weekend remains clear as I have some driving to do. I don't mind going out in it if I have to but prefer not to tempt fate.
Are you still working on your squares? I was tortured by three excellent finds today; alas, too late.

    1. I knew you were crazy. I don't like driving in snow but learning to drive in snow would have been a definite no no!

To be honest, I'd completely forgotten about the square pics. Sorry. I'll sort them out when I get back from London. Did you take photos? I'd still like to see them if you did. xx

  9. Oh, but, your garden looks so pretty with all that snow! Your poor plants, though! I'm glad it didn't stay on the ground for long and you've had rain since then. I hope the weather will be clear for your trip to London and back, this weekend. My daughter went to see Six the Musical in San Francisco with a group of friends and she enjoyed it.

    1. It does look pretty but I'm glad it's gone now. I'm sure the plants are too. The forecast for Sunday and Monday is rain so there shouldn't be any problems getting to London and back.

I've waited two years to see Six. I had a ticket in 2020 but the theatres closed because of lockdown so I received a refund. I've read good reviews of it so am looking forward to finally seeing it. XX

  10. When it snows, if you have the option it is definitely a time to snuggle down and have thinking time.
